Tracks

Mosport
Watkins Glen

Both of these are fundamentally excellent tracks. They have their own weather systems too!

Cheers,
BT

I would have to say that Calabogie is one of the nicest tracks on North America.

I dont presume to be a pro, but i have tracked Calabogie and studied the design.. and all i can say is WOW...

check it out: http://www.calabogiemotorsports.com/

Check out the TRACK facts on the web page!

cheers

I will be at Barber Friday and Saturday, May 9th and 10th for track days with STT. Any other motorcyclists here attending, by chance?

Out of about 100 motorcyclists, on average only one or two a day get hauled off in an ambulance. Pretty safe odds, wouldn't you say?

Barber is fun, but IMHO Road Atlanta and Mid-Ohio are still #1 and #2 for me with Road America a close 3rd.

Here's my top 5 - VIR, Barber, Mid-Ohio, Sears Point and Laguna Seca. I like the back side of Road America and the boot at Watkins Glen but the other parts of these 2 tracks aren't as challenging in my opinion.

I recently drove Reno Fernley was surprised that it was pretty fun. The surface was a little wavy in places but there were some nice challenges in some sections.

I still need to drive Thunderhill, Lime Rock, Autobahn, BeaverRun and Blackhawk Farms so I still have a few tracks to check off before I can say I've completed all the tracks in the U.S.

Ring still has it... In spades

Not for the faint hearted!

Spa Francorchamps would be my fav, the Ring is just to frightening. Have driven Laguna Seca, the corkscrew is amazing but the rest is a bit ho hum. Brands Hatch GP circuit is excellent as is Donnington Park.

I'd love to do the Ring. However, that's a bit of a haul. I have included some shots of my latest trip to Barber. A buddy of mine and I camped out in the paddock for this event.

Ive driven Tremblant (some) and Mosport (75 days), and most of my friends who've been on a lot of tracks put Mosport higher on the exciting list than Barber, or Tremblant or Laguna...actually, higher than everything. Ive not driven other tracks, so I dont know.

Mosport's facilities are not great (they're poor). The pavement is acceptable, neither good or bad. But the track will rot your confidence. It seems to be a favorite for the holly *$#^ factor amongst ALMS drivers, too.

Calabogie is said to be a great and fun track, and I hope to get there this summer. But its not a TRACK like some of the others listed here. Im concerned about the noise limits, too.

Tremblant is spectacular in every way. Great pavement. Great setting. Expensive to rent though. Nice and technical, but not that scary.

If you've got a chance to drive Mosport, I wouldnt skip it. Turn 2 is the hardest turn in North America, or so they say.

Some people have commented that the track feels tight but I personally love this track because it is very technical. The one thing really fun about this track is that from the pits the you can see 75% of the track at once. It has lots of elevation changes and off camber turns plus a 3200 foot straight and a 160 degree hairpin turn. Some turns are tight with very little room for error and others have a good run off area. For me, the real fun is in the turns at this track.

I have to agree with the sentiment of "Grattan is too tight". Don't get me wrong. It is a nice track. I like the fact that after racing I can go bass fishing on the property. Also it is a great track for a beginer since there is tons of run off in most places if you spin. Heck I'm no beginner and I used the spin friendly run off space a few times. But my vote for the most fun is going to be Mid-Ohio club race layout. A close second would be Gateway International raceway road course. For those that have not raced there you use part of the oval not unlike how F1 used sections of the Indianapolis motor speedway oval.

Todd, can't you ride a motorcycle? In every picture you're falling off your bike.

While it doesn't have the backdrop or the name attached to it, I have to toss a vote in for Buttonwillow. In most configurations it's a technical track without being tight -- but you have multiple combinations leading to straights (so you pay for mistakes for a LONG time) and a mix of both low speed and high speed turns.

If so, where might that be? How do those of you who have attended Barber rate it? What other tracks do others here consider "must do" tracks?

Haven't been to barber...but VIR in virginia is a MUST DO track for anyone who's never been

I hope to drive Barber at next year's LOG. So far I'v only been in the passinger's seat at there. I like the boot at Watkins Glenn, the back side of Blackhalk Farms, the blind left cresting turn at Seatle International.
