I have a friend who races vintage cars here in the US - I sent him your details.

I do hope you get the car back - it sickens me to think things like this happen.

Thanks Khamai, I believe that there is a lotus 41 registrar somewhere in the USA. Are you aware of this and if so can you give me a contact e-mail address or something.

Thanks for your support

Damn, thats like stealing the Mona Lisa.....(it's not like you can hang it up and show it off anywhere.)
Say a prayer to the race gods. Hoping for a safe return. Keep us posted on any details. Whomever took it should lose their hands. Never mess with a man's car.

Cheers,

If you find the bastard that stole it, I'll man the magnifying glass so you can dedicate both hands to the bolt cutters.

I hope she comes back safe.

Hi,
I am a vintage racer here in the US and I strongly recommend you place an ad in the "Stolen/Lost" section in Victory Lane magazine. Many of the people racing and buying cars/parts read Victory Lane. Pm me if you need Victory Lane's contact info.
I know someone that had their McLaren F2/B car stolen and got it back by keeping the pressure on with advertising. Keep the faith, you'll get her back.

YES....It seems to me that advertising is your best defense. I would take a few ads out in the big vintage racing magazines. Offer the reward..and if you can make it substantial enough and advertise what the reward is....may be that will help.

Hell...I could use the bucks....wish I had more contacts..and the time....I would try and do more than I am doing for you.

did anyone recently offer to buy the car from you?

The suspense is going to start knocking people off left and right here.
Where was it? Is it OK? Any damage? Was it actually stolen? Were the theives caught?
I guess in the end, it's the return that counts.

Cheers,

Hi everyone, Firstly I would like to say a massive thank you to all who have helped me fan this out across the world. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and touched by the huge support I was given by you all and of the Global Historic Motorsport community in general.

Yes the car has been recovered and for this I am truly delighted. It is however quite badly damaged, three of the four mag wheels are wrecked, as is the fibreglass body, the radiator, the gearbox casing (smashed) the engine /gearbox hewland spacer has a 6 inch piece missing- but worst of all the chassis is bent in six or seven places.

The Police received a call in the early hours of the morning, from a motorist travelling home in a built up area, saying that he had been passed at very high speed by a race car. Shortly after that the plonker lost it going into a roundabout, smashed the wheels and underside on the concrete kerbs then ended up sideways (hard) into a tree in the area of the roll bar.

Anyway, as I say, I have the car back, its going to be a long, hard and expensive winter but both it and I will be on the start line for the first meeting of the Paul Matty Sportscars Championship 2010 season, at Aintree (Liverpool) in April.

In the event, what seemed like an extremely professional hit now appears to be nothing more than a bunch of amateurs who couldn't even drive the damm thing let alone fence it. I would be very surprised if they were wearing the race harness or a helmet so they are, in all probability, nursing some pretty painfull injuries at the moment - unfortunately when I took the body off there were no limbs inside the car !!

Thanks again, a community that I did not know existed until a week ago is now in my favourites and I will visit regularly.

Glad you got your beautiful car back, Greg, but gutted for you for the extensive repairs ahead. Good Luck in getting it back on track where it belongs.
