Esprit V8 beats Noble M400

I just ran my Esprit against the Noble M400. We raced from 30mph. to 120mph. The esprit pulled slightly in 2nd. hit third and pulled a little more (about 1 to 1 1/2 cars) then came 4th. goodby... (3 cars more to 120)
The Esprit has even more boost left in it!! & the Noble M400 will beat a Z06!!! (I mean a new Z06!)

All hail to the mighty Esprit
(truck tranny, cast pistons and all!)

depending on who built the car and what map it came with (i.e. old, new, etc.) the noble's vary widely in performance.

it's all about the builder when it comes to the nobles,...and even the most experienced can screw up and cause cars to stall, short out, etc. (you can read about the most recent hiccup at nobleforums.com)

the shop i'm hooked up with builds nobles. we've seen everything from the cable to the gas pedal literally wrapped around some hose to nothing being torqued right,... and these from "authorized" builders from nobles.

built right, there really is nothing that can keep up with them. built wrong, they really are no better than {insert flavorful car of choice here}.

Believe me, I know all about these Nobles & their spotty build issues. This Noble owner is my best friend & he also has an 04 Esprit with the boost turned up like mine. His just got forged pistons & ARP studs too (he put a hole in a piston, no race fuel & 26psi )
This Noble has the new ECU mapping and it is VERY FAST! And it took the Esprit A LOT of boost to finally beat it (about 18-20psi.) I was starting to get concearned
How could this happen? Check my thread "Esprit at 26psi"
Also, we did 5-6 runs to be sure but... notice - I did not try a first gear or standing start (I am not stupid & I want my car alive)
The Noble can't be beat? Oh, yes it can!!! Long live the KING. . .
The Lotus Esprit
(truck tranny & cast pistons too)
Looking foward to the water/Methanol injection

I will admit - on pump fuel, The Noble will be faster. But... guys run race gas.

Renault bread van beats Esprit!

I was cruisin' the strip with my homeys like a looser, looking BADAZZ in my 1975 Renault delivery van when I hear this sound like a box of rocks in a washing machine pull up next to me at a stoplight.

I look over and some dude in a yellow Esprit with "KRKRULZ" on the front tag and "26PSIBOOM" on the back tag is staring at my with googly goofy eyes. His panties were clearly bunched up, as he could barely get a word out at the sight of my haul-butt truck. I looked over and said, you know our cars are related? That's my tranny in your car man. Panty boy says "LOOSER! NO WAY!"

Light turns green, and KRKRULZ pulls me about 100 car lengths in the first 5 seconds of our race. Then, the pin falls out of the 26 PSI grenade, causing a mushroom cloud that registered on NORAD radar out in Colorado. I rolled by, flat out in 3rd gear (top) at 65 mph and took the win. Toast! Another bites the Renault!

I am glad to see that the new Z06 has become somewhat of a "benchmark" for comparison purposes!

That Renault gear box is one thing I don't miss after I sold my '02 V8. The Esprit is an absolute pig when shifting from 1st to 2nd...syncro design is lame. Otherwise, it was a fantastic (and fast) car.
