The Harbor Freight soda blaster looks like a good idea. I would like to clean up the engine and gearbox while they are in the car.

Did you have any of the problems mentioned in the horrible reviews on HF website?

I did not read about the problems with the soda blaster. I have had none ... once you get the hang of it.

I keep Larry up to date and ask his advice etc.
I think he's glad it is getting worked on.

So the soda blaster can clean the chassis and leave the galvanizing? Which blaster did you buy? which media? course or medium?

Holy ****, I remember looking over that first 97 car on your blog back in '99 or '00 in Walnutport, Pa at a salvage dealer...if that's the same car. That was quite a project to jump into.

Yes - blaster does not hurt the galvanizing. I bought the big one at HF. I used my own media - baking soda 50lb bag from pool dealer. I also bought the HF media but have not tried it yet.

@ Minnis - not sure which car you mean. The yellow one probably :-)

Thank you for the info.. and love following your builds. I am just getting started with my '89 that I bought a couple of weeks ago. I will be putting the new Ford 5.0 Coyote V8 in mine.
