Lotus Collection

Hi there,

i am new here. My Name is Andy and i work as a postman in Bregenz, Austria.
A few days before i was on my tour packed with letters, parcels and newspapers
to do my job.
On this way i passed a production hall in a business park.
The great door was opened and i could not belive my eyes!!
A great hall full with lotuses!!!!

I went in and asked if it is allowed to take a closer look to this cars.
The owner was just talking to a other man.
He sayed: sure, come in.
It was unbelievable!
A Lotus Esprit V8, a Turbo Esprit, a Esprit SE, a Lotus Elite, 2 Elises, a Formula
Racer (dont know what Type), a Seven, a Fullcarbon Lotus Bike (
i have not known there are Lotus Bikes???????) and some Ducati Motorcycles.

And they all look like new, spotlessly clean.
Very amazing. I asked him if it is ok to make some pics.
Again it was ok for him.
It was not so lighted there, so the pics are not so special.

Sorry for my bad english but english is not my native language.

with kind regards

Andy

Nice collection. Thanks for sharing the pics. Next time you have to get the owner to take you for a drive in one or two of them.

Awesome!

I wonder which is more rare, the open wheeled racer, or the bike?

Let's see...

The car is a Type 61 Formula Ford. They made about 250 of them.
The bike is a Type 110. How many of those did they make? Google won't tell me.

Gruss Gott, Andy! Thanks for the photos, they are great. I was not familiar with Bregenz until now. I have family in eastern Osterreich, in Wien and Bernstein. I was hoping this garage was closer to them, so that I could visit it the next time I was in the country

I thought I read on here only 50-100, but that could have been way off. So I guess we may never know

Hi,

yes, thats truly a great collection.
Yesterday after i have done my job i went back to that warehouse hopeing
the collector is always there.
And what a luck - he was.
He smiled when he saw me and asked if i have a letter for him.
He was just working on the yellow Esprit and has mounted some Carbon Parts
on the Esprit. He offered me a coffee and asked me if i am interessted in cars.
The true is that i am interessted in LOTUS - but i can not afford one.

I have tried to find out more about the Lotuses in.

The yellow Esprit is a V8 with just 19000KM on the odometer and looks like new.
This car would be my favorit
The yellow Elise is a 1998 Car. The silver one is from 1997.
The Lotus Elite is from 1977. He told me its a two owner car with just 13000km.

@ alil'britdifferend, no prob, he said when spring comes back to austria he will
allow me the make some better pics.
He will put the cars out on the parking place and the i will be able to make superb pics.

@ lawy'du, milehitom, yes here you have some more pics

@ ms355, sehr schön! Ein deutsch sprechender! Dann kannst du wenigstens verstehen wie ich mich momentan emotional fühle.
Bin quasi hinundhergeschleudert!!!

@ catapult, at the moment it is not possible to take one of the cars out for a drive.
But i will ask him this question when the weather is better. Maybe in spring.

@ def, andykeck, the racer is a Type 61. He does not know how much cars
were made. But this car was driven by Jochen Rindt and Reine Wisell.
The cycle is the winner bike from the tour the france prolog in 1993.
He sad to me it was driven by Erik Breukink from the spain team Once.
Lotus has made 50 Bikes from this type and another aprox 100 Pices
were made in South Africa by Aerodyne Space Technology. He got that bike from
Willem van da Koi (Lotus Importeur in the netherlands) who is a close
friend to him.

@ vorpal, Auch Grüss Gott, Bregenz is in Westaustria. We have just 2 km to the swiss border and
about 20km to the german border. So the distance to wien are about 650km.

@ shay2nak, i think the collection is awesome. I could not sleep the last few days.
I am going to save money - till its possible to buy my own Lotus!

Have a nice day.

Andy
