Market effect of the 2011 Esprit on the V8 cars
I'm curious as to what everyone thinks will happen to the market value of the V8 Esprits as a result of (if
) the new Esprit hitting the market in 2011.Do you think this will have a positive effect --- V8 market values will rise? Do you think this will have a negative effect --- V8 market values will fall? Do you think this will have no effect --- V8 market values may rise or fall, but this will be unaffected by the new car? Last edited by finnerty : 09-20-2009 at 11:27 AM. |

I think the later V8 prices will continue to fall somewhat but I don't think it will be affected much by the new Esprit if there is one.
The price points are going to be too vastly different by that time. |

...i think that the classic esprit will be worth more than it would have been without the release of the new esprit - that is, its value will rise relative to its natural depreciation curve...
...whether or not that translates into increased absolute value remains to be seen, and is i think entirely dependent upon how big of a hit the evora and subsequent esprit turn out to be...

+1 -- a likely scenario esp if the new cars are given a good reception and they increase customer brand awareness--in a positive way, of course
.

For example, the release of the 348 & 355 caused a drop in 308 & 328 market values; however, when the 360 & 430 rolled off, the 308 & 328 market values did not take a drop ---- in fact, since the 430 was introduced, 308 prices have been slowly, but steadily, climbing. I guess we'll have to see just how wide of a "gap" the public will perceive exists between the V8 Esprit and the Evora and / or its new successor Esprit (if there ever is one)....... |

Depends what the "new" Esprit is. If it's some monstrosity that has nothing to do with a sports car, the V8's will probably see a faster appreciation curve in a few years than they otherwise would have.
If the new car is at least comparably good, prices will probably dip for a few years, then slowly begin to appreciate at some point. |
