More technical HELP needed

My 1997 Lotus developed a boost problem recently....meaning it won't boost past 2 or 3 psi. A Lotus shop replaced several parts with no positive results.

Last word from the shop is that the actuators on the turbos need to be replaced.

Does anybody know what actuators can be used other than the factory Lotus ones?

Here is a photo of the part

Thanks - Joel

Right here, my friend:

PUK Esprit Racing

Scroll down to the bottom to see the upgraded V8 wastegate-capsules:

The V8-turbos are well known for being not the biggest turbos on this planet. Therefore many V8-owners wrongly blame the turbos when there is less than 0.75 bar boost when you floor it ... This is only half the truth, because the two T25 turbos are even good for 1 bar boost, for a short period of course ;o) More of the truth is that many V8-engines have defective (corroded, rusted, stuck open) or just too weak wastegate capsules sitting next to their turbos. IMHO most of the stock capsules are way too weak and cannot even hold up to 0.75 bar stock max. boost pressure.

This is why we offer this pair PUK high performance wastegate-capsules

- extremely high quality capsules, that will not corrode and rust like the stock ones
- stainless steel rod
- nicely polished all Aluminium serviceable capsule (capsule is split in two halfes, with interchangeable spring and diaphragma inside !)
- correct spring-rate for sustained boost pressures higher than 0,75 bar. These capsules will hold the wastegate closed against the exhaust gas pressure up to around 0,9-1.0 bar boost ... only when demanded via ECU, of course ;o)
- stock mechanical base-boost-setting 0.35 bar remains untouched (This is important for the correct ECU-boost-management-takeover and the fault-code safety limit !)
- designed for use in stock (=0.75 bar max. boost) or upgraded V8-engines that run more than 0.75 bar max. boost
- just bolt on installation, they have the correct size, correct mounting bolts location and the correct rod-shape
- these capsules come as a matched pair

I will start from the wastegate solenoid. Those tend to go bad over time & you'll have minimum boost if it goes bad. It's easy to replace & cheap as well (about $30).
