Well fellows the ride has been great but I just cracked up my 2002 Anniversary Esprit. It looks like it didn't like the 4 foot fall off the retaining wall (the whole thing at 40mph). The body is still in great shape other than the missing drivers side portion of the front lower spoiler. The thing that did it in was a slight bend in the frame. What happened was that it broke loose going up a hill in the rain on a slippery road. It sent the car into an immediate and unrecoverable spin towards the grass median. Unfortunatly the curb turned into a retaining wall as the median rose in proportion to the road and half the car was over the curb/retaining wall causing the rear wheels to dangle. After 25 feet the car slid back onto the road scraping the tail pipes in the process. The suspension is shot, steering, and now frame. The body shop and dealer wanted do a frame transplant, but I took the rightoff option as I didn't think that they could make the car as beautiful and perfect as it was. I'm not going to replace it at this time. I still have a silver roof with the transport bag that will will be selling. Offers will be accepted. |

so long so sad
Sorry to hear about your loss, but as everyone said, "as long as your ok" is the main thing.
I know what you are going through, I lost a 88 Esprit about 15 yrs ago to an electrical fire. All you can do is helplessly watch it burn & melt in front of your eyes. I lost the whole rear end of the car & interior in the matter of 5 minutes. Car was total loss. It was the worst feeling you could ever experience at the time. I did curl up in a ball for days. I had another Lotus in my garage and it took me days before I could even go look at it never mind drive it, but when I did drive it was the best thing I could have done since the fire to clear my mind. They tell you it like riding a bicycle, if you fall you must get right up & ride again! Stay tough & focused. Bruce ![]() |

What are you going to get now? When you say you are not going to replace it THIS time. Did this happen with another car too? |
