I also must give alot of credit to Gary Towers, he is the guy who built my motor at the factory. Hey Gary - if you are out there... THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alright, I'm with you. I'd really like to see that car on the track. I'll be honest, most Esprit guys think you are going to blow it to pieces (including me), but I have a soft spot for these cars. Prove me wrong. I've never seen a fast Esprit on track, even mine (lol), and I would like to do that one day.

Then you know you have a good one! Mine revs so freely and likes running at 5 to 7000 rpm. constantly! Mine is also an 03.5 (only in Ca. I think?) these cars are actually 04's and part of the last 33 made with the adj. suspension & high torque ECU. Mine also dyno'd @ 372 rear wheel hp. dead stock when it had 1,200 miles. I trully believe that Gary has something to do with my car being soo good!!

I also read that the least few years of the v8's the were all considerably faster and the engine's were very well built.. consequently, every rebuilt esprit v8 was built up to the last few years specifications..

I've heard the same from a couple of sources, including an unnamed but trusted Lotus dealer. Seems the '02++ Esprits were pretty much the perfected (if you can call it that...) V8's. I must go along with that, as my '02 has only had the alternator fail at 10K miles (replaced under warranty) and it was my fault due to a battery issue I had. Other than that, a vibrating muffler (also fixed under warranty). My car has been flawless at 17K, and that's with a couple thousand miles running with "safe", but powerful mods.

The '03.5/'04 Esprits, aside from minor cosmetics, had the following added:
Adjustable Bilstein/Eibach suspension (designed & tuned together with Lotus)
High Torque ECU
Automatic Tire Gauge Meter (radio frequency)

I just installed the upgraded suspension, but have yet to test... I understand from other reliable sources that it is the ultimate in suspension, not just for the Esprit, but most supercars on the street! This was Lotus's expensive and well R&D'd gift in the final Run Esprits. Can't wait to test them!!
