Windshield replacement procedure
I need to have my S4s windshield replaced - does anyone have a procedure for this? I'm guessing it is not simple since I had to buy spacers & moldings along with the glass (from LotusGarage). Can anyone recommend a glass installer in the LA area?
-Thanks

I am sure there are some specific installation aspects to an Esprit, but you should make sure they are following best practices in general.
Here's a site to find certified installers: safewindshields.com - Find a local AGRSS registered auto glass replacement shop. You really have to watch them to make sure they use the right primers, don't put their grubby fingers all over the areas for the glue, etc. These guys are not well paid, and they are not too concerned if you have problems years down the road.

I have found Safelite to be very capable. Be aware not all shops will install your glass. Many will only install glass they supply. Even if they will install your glass they will tell you they are not responsible for chips, cracks or breakage. Most shops will come to your house or job and do it right on the spot.

This is what you want because you don't want to drive the car right after the glass has been replaced. It's best to let it sit overnight before driving.

Ask local car clubs about a trusted mobile crack and chip repair guy. Don't buy the kits at the parts store, and don't hire anyone that also replaces glass because they have a conflict of interest (eg. safelite).

Most insurers will cover a small crack or chip repair for a small fee and waive the deductible. Permatex also sells a DIY kit for about $20 which is pretty similar to the pro method.

Some cracks can be repaired and some cannot. It takes someone with experience to be able to judge if a repair will be successful. I have dealt with Safelite and have had chips repaired successfully by them. The crack can still be found if you know where to look and look at the right angle. In some cases the very act of repairing the crack may make it worse. You force the resin into the crack and that can make it "run". Call your insurance company and they may be able to give you advice on repairing vs replacement. Or Safelite can do it for you. ( I get no compensation form Safelite, I am only a satisfied customer).
