Wiper Delay Relay in an 89 Esprit?

I am interested in the "wiper delay" modification discussed on this forum and also on the LEW websit. This is the mod where you buy the VW (or equivalent) wiper relay that has a programmable function for setting various time delays on the wiper function.

What I can't determine from what I have researched is whether or not this will work with an 89 Esprit. My car has 4 different wiper functions - "intermittent" which is engaged by pulling back on the wiper control stalk, "spray" which is engaged by pushing the stalk in which sprays the windshield with cleaner and fires a sequence of wipes, and then the two speed positions, low and high, which are engaged when the stalk is pushed down.

Has anyone done the relay mod to their 4 cylinder Esprit and found it to work as described in the LEW modification? This is the mod I am referring to:
