Back on the Road!

This story starts in August, the week before Monterey weekend. The Elan was all set to drive up to Monterey, and the rear suspension was rebuilt. But dad felt a vibration ( you know what that means). Turns out there was some slop in one of the universal joints so dad reluctantly took the BMW 1600 Cabriolet instead . Anyways, after we got back from Monterey we pulled the driveshaft out, sent it out to get balanced and etc, put in a new trans seal, yesterday the driveshaft went back in (with a new input shaft), and today the rear suspension and donut were put back together. The end result: One happy dad.

And thus ends the story of the original unrestored Elan that my dad has owned for over 20 years.

Wow, magnificent car.

Seeing an Elan in person really sold me on them.

Kudos to your dad!

Apparently, 5 minutes after he had just started driving it, dad ran into a black Elise! There was a truck next to him and the Elise behind the truck, and the driver of the truck said, "I like yours better than his." :: Then the Elise pulled up and he my dad talked. Anyone here?

When I first read that, I thought he literally ran into a black Elise.
