I know what you mean..... IF my Europa ever gets done, my Elise will not be able to touch it....handling OR power.

I love that engine, I had a Europa many years ago and put a weber head on it from an Elan. It took some machining though because the alternator drive is run off of the back of the Europa engine. I twisted the engine pretty hard, very close to the BRM Phase 4 engine spec. As I remember I put Weber 40 DCOE-18s on that engine so it was still streetable, somewhat. Pushing the engine that hard had its problems such as broken cams! My Europa was one quick car though!
Enjoy working on that wonderful engine!

Nothing too crazy, bringing it up to 150-160hp (car is 1440lbs) which should be enough for some good thrills, especially since I can't fit bigger tires on the car without doing fender flares. ( I only like the subtle 26r flares on Elans, may come later)

Having it built professionally. doing 114 cams, big valves, balanced, ported and polished, it already has .030 over pistons but may replace them if necessary, rings, etc.. Also will be doing a new clutch to accommodate the added power, converting to an alternator and going to a gear reduction starter.
Plus replacing all seals and gaskets on the engine and transmission to stop the leaks.
That's it for now

I hadn't planned on doing this work this year, but worn valve guides, a loss of oil pressure and threats from my wife of children in our future expedited the plan.

No car for three months though

Cool. Your car was pretty fast before you did this. I am trying to resist the urge to pick up an Elan or ??

Congrats on finally getting it out. Who are we gonna be able to keep up with?. Just Kidding, best of luck with the whole job.

With our car, it's just torture waiting for the dash and crash pad to get back. I can't imagine how you're feeling.

I just hope it rains a lot for the next few months so I don't feel so bad

I heard a rumor that he was either going to sell it or restore it. I can ask him. Interested? As you know it's FAST!!!

Saw this engine in person today, as well as the transmission.
