I used to run my Elan with Esprits and Elises. Frankly, it was better balanced than the Elise, and the turbo was a joy at full song...

The only possible conclusion left is that you've just agreed that drivetrain platforms don't determine sportscar-ness. FWD, RWD and AWD sportscars exist. So, there's no other conclusion and you've just painted yourself into that corner you talked about earlier. transio did the same so he's agreed with the above too but won't admit it. Instead of being an adult about it and saying "Hey, I learned something here today and I'm now smarter for it" you're deep in denial and can't find a way out so you just keep repeating the same old song...............

Why would I want a star or a cookie? I was of the impression this was a discussion, and appears to be for some people. Your juvenile attitude towards other peoples points would seem to show it's just a way for you to troll though.

I think if you asked most car people, they would not agree that the last gen Thunderbird was a sports car. Have you ever been in one? It's a very soft riding car, I wouldn't even call it a GT, more of a boulevarder. The Prowler also isn't overly sporty, though they are firm riding and certainly head turners. It might get more supporters calling it a sports car than the Thunderbird, but probably not by much.

My point was to show the absurdity of your arguments. I'm sure you won't see it or care, as you just toss out any argument to fit any point someone has made, you certainly don't seem to have any conviction to them. But seeing your predictable response, that's my reward, no scooby snack is necessary.

FYI, on the Kia Elan you like to chide M100 owners about, Lotus selling the design for the Elan is no different than them selling the design for the Seven. I don't think it makes the Lotus Seven any less interesting now that another company is making it, do you? I don't see why Kia making Elans years after Lotus is anything for M100 owners to be embarrassed about.

That "stationwagon" is a Forester XT with far more horsepower than you wish your Elan probably had It also is AWD. Glad you like our late night bunch, we meet weekly. That looks like a huge Elan meet, doesn't look like something you see everyday, sort of boring seeing your garage x 100, only in different colors though, if you ask me

Well, technically, you did it to yourself so I can't really take any credit for it as much as I'd like to. And yes, you did. You said M100 = sportscar. None of you responded to the comparison I posted back on like page 17 that actually shows real life results of different layouts? Did it not prove the point you guys were hoping for?

I still don't see the point. I know that FWD has inherent limitations, but that doesn't make it any less for the needs I have. Now, despite what Phlype tried to misconstrue I never claimed that I beat a Viper. I would need a little more to do that . However I have never lost to a Mustang GT before. I even suprised myself when a brand new one was antogonizing me and I had 3 other poeple in the car and I still put about 1/2 a car on him from 10-60. So being more of a sports car did not guarentee any outcome.

The worst I ever got spanked was from this $hitbox looking Civic hatchback that had all different colored body panels. He fell back at first, but once I heard the turbo start spooling I knew I was toast. And toasted I got. Now the car wasn't attractive, but it certainly proved its point.

Now over at Honda-tech.com there is a very long build-up of a Del-Sol thats getting a Prelude motor mounted in the back (like a modern Fiero) and I must say that I admire the work and dedication that has gone into that project.

I think I belong to a different group than alot of you. My hobby is modification of the car, not neccasarilly the car itself. If its modified than I'm interested. A completely stock Camaro, while a formidable machine, doesn't really interest me. A Toyota Camry with custom turbo kit that only makes 210HP....I'm interest in seeing how its done. I'm not in the hobby for the status a particular car brings me.

I was at a dyno day not too long ago and this guy had a regular Lancer and it only dyno'ed about 110HP. Now obviously with cars like mine there he was a little embarrased, but I talked to him because I was interested in the mods he had done. The absolute performance didn't interest me, I was interested in the improvement he got from the base performance.


And Phlype I think with how much criticism you have raised I think the type of car you chose to spend money on is important to this conversation.

A Forester XT is basically a tall Impreza WRX wagon, IIRC.

And who said wagons can't be fast? They're slightly heavier than sedans, yes, but only slightly.

That said, Elanlover's GTGs look a LITTLE bigger.

Heck, ColumbusTDIDrivers (a FWD VW diesel club) puts together as good of a showing as what you "can" bring, and we've only got a few people in the club!

When you get a little older you may want to spend less time tweaking and more time behind the wheel of your car You may also want to maintain your warranty and day-to-day driveability. Fortunately for you your car already came with boost. Just imagine the headaches that the original Neon guys had when they were throwing on Hahn RaceCraft kits and whatnot.

You're in a phase where I've already "been there and done that". BTW, I'm not into cars for the status they bring either note how some people insist on listing their car(s) in their signatures, or name themselves after a car model? I'm not one of them.
