I would suspect that the tires on that Elan are not hooking up or that car is not really putting out 235hp. My friend had a Cosworth Elan with a 250hp and modern tires, it would suck the doors off an Elise (by at least three+ car lengths) and once we nearly drove over an F430 that was under hard acceleration. We estimated 0-60 to be in the mid/high 3's and the car was never running right.

Very cool, but Dennis is violating my number one convertible rule:

Top down=windows down.

IMO, you can get away with it in a targa, but not a true convertible.

yeah, I never liked the way that looked. On my S3 I removed them (and the windows and convertible top). I always follow your rule

You get used to it very quickly. Besides, the window frames are feather light. Seriously, I've lifted the entire frame, including the part in the door that moves and holds the glass, etc. (everything but the motor) with my little finger without strain.
