Check Engine P0014 ?

Got this yesterday, during 45 minutes drive.

Engine feel out of breath in non sport mode, and rev light turns on at sport in 4500 rpm.

Any ideas?

Looks like your cam positioning sensor has gone tits up and will need to be replaced. Thats the code and the exact symptoms of it going bad.

Redline occurring at 4500 rpm is that engine is in limp mode. The code means that a VVT error of greater than 5 deg for over 2.5 second has occurred at least twice. So the problem is on the Exhaust Cam Bank 1 (towards rear of car).

Shop Manual gives 4 possible failures:

Static valve timing is incorrect
VVT Camshaft Actuator failed
VVT Control Valve stuck Open or Closed
VVT Control Valve filter

If it was a sensor failure then you should also get Error code P0017 which occurs if Cam is more than 16 deg out of phase.

With mine, I only received the 14 error and not the 17. Lotus dealer saw the same thing and replaced the sensor. I've had no issue since the replacement. When I had the issue it would randomly do it, I couldn't rev past 5500 or so if I remember correctly, then the MIL would come on. I would pull the codes when I got home and clear it and it was always the same P0014 code.

Yeah hopefully thats the issue. In the link I posted about mine, someone got the part super cheap and said it was easy to replace themselves.

Luckily if you do have the dealer do it, the cost was listed as $234 for the sensor and labor on my paperwork. So not super expensive if you go that route.

One more question:

OEM sensor goes for $250... anyone knows if Denso for Camry 2GR-FE $90 shipped would do the same job, or I'm missing something?

Might want to PM @William48151623 . He is the one that said he replaced it with the Toyota part that he ordered directly from them but he didn't list the part number. I looked at my paperwork and it doesn't give a part number like they normally do because they had to order it from Lotus at the time when the tech made his notes. They did mention something about the one they had sourced locally not being the right shape so had to order one from Lotus.
