The T plate would never contact with any surface before the splitter does, unless the surface was raised like a curb or a concrete parking block.

I agree that is my only concern I just don’t want to be blamed for suggesting the T for a fix. But then again if you hit a curb the damage would have been done either way.

Why are you worried? Didn't you get the GTE front yet? Let me take that splitter off of your hands and I'll worry about all that stuff

......and perhaps a little bead of clear silcone under the Tee would help secure the front end to the splitter

The T's are from Home Depot, and I've shown the part #'s. I bent the forward leg of the T's slightly up, to apply a slight pressure on the Splitter-Protector when the screws were tightened.

The Splitter is rock solid with these T brackets.

Again, I still also recommend using the 3M Clear Mounting Tape as well, to keep debris and air form getting in between the bodywork and the Splitter-Protector.
Ok, I have done this update on my 2+0. I painted my brackets semigloss black.
It was very easy even for me to do.

Whelp it happened. The splitter just had too much down force.

Saddened but just leads to figuring out how to make it better.

I want to know what it is attaching to inside the bumper because it doesn't seem to be very secure :\

Ah crap! Sorry to see that Plack. You didn't have the T brackets right? How fast were you going when it happened, do you know?

123+ mph. No T-brackets but I did have extra large washers.

So is your splitter still good or headed to the graveyard? I ask partly out of curiosity, but also because now that my car's on order I am bound and determined to get a splitter on it when it shows up and before I really start driving it around.

I need to write Bobsy to see what if anything we can work out with the tracing that he has as I'm thinking that there's got to be someone I can find to cut them. It'd be nice to have a steady and reliable source of splitters for Evora owners.

The splitter is rock solid - still love the way it makes the front look and once I find a solution to brace it behind the bumper materials I will be putting it back on.

This thing takes a beating (or rubbing/scraping) and just keeps on.

If there is a nice source for the GT bumper (or Mansory) I might go that route to repair the damage - I'm just glad it isn't visible.

I wouldn't be too keen on reattaching those right away without figuring out the angles involved. Imagine if it was strong enough to peel away like that, if you used T-washers or those struts to hold it to the nose, think about the forces pulling at your clam from the bottom as you go faster and what it's doing to the car. Bad juju.

I want to find a way to change the attachment points to a better location. If it can pull down on something more substantial (like the frame) then we should be good to go.

Time to find a lift and get the bumper off.

Plack right about the speed I popped mine at! See I wasn't BS'ing anybody. Its a beautiful piece but now we know why ANY true splitter uses retainers!

Retainers would help but my thinking is that if the initial bolt spots were not just into the plastic bumper it wouldn't have happened at any speed. Maybe the splitter would have broken but not the bumper.

The splitter is fine if you keep your car at LEAGAL SPEEDS.. If you look at the nose of the Evora it has a slit lift in the front & like I said before this was designed and wind tested by Lotus. So any changes to that natural lift could change the aerodynamics of our cars. What's funny I have seen other aftermarket body kits have the same negative affect on cars aerodynamics. My friend spent over 2k for a front splitter for his BMW and while driving at high speeds it flew off and slammed into another car. Only a select few aftermarket companies do R&D testing before releasing their products.

It was only a matter of time

The problem could have been prevented by bonding the entire leading edge contact surface area to the bumper with 3M VHB adhesive tape. It's been tested to resist wind shear forces of 160mph, flexes and absorbs vibrations, and is a completely waterproof seal.

Anyway sorry to hear this. Though it sounds like your having a blast with the car . Damage doesn't look too bad.

fasttoys: Yep - I knew that going into it

Squidward: Why else would I have it lol?

I'm not broken up about a bumper crack - it isn't horrid. I would have been sad had it done damage to someone else - that would have put me off. As it is - I had an idea of the chances but I felt it was ok at around 120ish because at 115 on the track it was no issue no vibration at all. I just found the limit of the product - that is all.

Now time to make it better.
