EVORA at the Los Angeles Car Show!

Dale from SilverStar Lotus told me that the Lotus Evora will be at the auto show (November!). After that, the EVORA will be displayed at Thousand Oaks Lotus Dealership!

Good news.

I assume Beverly Hills is out of the Lotus business, and Thousand Oaks business will increase...

Go to the LA Auto Show website.

Click on the special Press Day advanced showing.

I'll see you there Hal.

No crowds...way cool.

Hi Hal,
Unless Silver Star sales gets their act together, I will be surprised if they sell another car.

Do they really think people are going to buy a car just to test drive it?

The only competent sales guy I met was in their Mazda dealership and they closed that.

Would it kill them to have a Lotus sign outside?

I look forward to good experiences with Richie in service, but can safely say my 2013 S 295 will likely be bought from someone other than Silver Star.

See you on the Sunday run.

Cheers,
Mark

They might just do that, I mean sell a car without a test drive – to me. I have met Spencer, the sales manager, though a courteous introduction by Abe (thank you again), and Spencer is a good guy. I could go to any number of dealers, but I chose to first try to support my local dealer because I think it is important to maintain a dealer in my area. Consider giving Spencer a chance to change your mind. Hope to see you out there next year!

Good luck with that Steve. I would have preferred to buy local for same reasons but this was the last of many sub-optimal experiences with Silver Star sales departments. I can appreciate that had I got directed to your contact, I may have had a better experience. I visited twice, was completely ignored the first time (along with another older gentleman who I actually believed wanted to buy the Cup car!) and just felt I wasted my time the second time.

I explained to the sales guy I dealt with that I had never even sat in an Elise and was a slow and careful buyer. If I was buying a Cup Car I could understand it but am I being unreasonable in asking to drive the damn thing to see if I even like it? All I got was "no test drive and no price negotiation". I told him that is why he was probably still selling 2006 cars and took my leave.

I found Newport European through this forum and had an entirely positive experience. I was buying the cheapest car in a showroom with Spyker, Lambo and Rolls-Royce and received the courtesy and professionalism that would get return business.

I look forward to meeting you out on one of Hal's adventures.

Cheers,
Mark

Not my my experience -- Silver Star has always been good to me and any of my referrals/friends...including allowing us to have lengthy test drives. It must be because I'm an old fart!

Lamborghini dealers are apparently as friendly as Lotus dealers. A friend of mine has a new Ferrari (less that 18 months old) and is looking to add a new Lamborghini to his garage. Imagine his surprise when he can’t get a salesman to return his telephone calls. I had always thought that service was part a parcel of high end sales.

It was possible at the London motorshow (at least I was able to), so I don't see why not.

Hey Mark:

I still haven't even driven an Exige and I have been planning on a purchase in 2009 for a year now - crazy! Actually, I don't care where or even if I get to drive an Exige before I buy, so I didn't even ask for a test drive. It will make my first drive like the first time I got to unbotton this girl's top and...., well another forum for that!

The first time I visited Silver Star, I was approached by a knowledgable sales person - well, knowledgable until he insisted that the radiator was in the back! Spencer is an enthusiast and a genuinely nice guy, so I wish you had met him first.

Until I decide on a car, I will live vicariously through you and the other LT'ers, so keep posting and I will see you next year!

Best,

I spent a a lot of time at Silverstar when I bought the USED (carl's Elise) Lotus. They treated me fairly and did not apply any pressure. I did get a test drive. Spencer, Dale and Russ are good guys and people that are good to work with. It was a very good buying experience. The only bad experience was the transferrable warranty. That's all.

The salesman (Roger Pittman) was superb! Unfortunately he's not there anymore.

After I bought the '05 Elise, I was visiting the showroom (again) and Dale and Russ gave me the keys of the '07 ExigeS! Terry and I drove it (without a salesmen)....now that is trust! I didn't even ask to test drive it.

It comes down to the salesman's judgement. This car is expensive and letting any pimple-faced teenager to drive it is Lotus Suicide! But the salesman should be there in the passenger seat as the first test drive. The first drive in the '05 Elise was the twisties in Santa Monica mountains!

Now, let's get back to the topic! Evora will be displayed at Silverstar after the LA Car show! Will they let us to test drive it??

I'm an old fart too!
