Lotus Builds ‘Type 124' Racing Edition of New Evora Model

And if the point is to bring attention on the homepage to news, then just post the original thread...

Just seems silly - I am not getting it.

ok - end rant.

Probably to reduce potential for glare on windscreen.

Take a look at the interior of any of the Lotus X180R race cars. A seemingly odd mix of stock parts and stripped out interior. The dash was stock. At LOG 29 Doc Bundy noted that by activating the rear window defogger switch the ECU somehow allowed the engine to develop more power.

I don't know but I assumed that it was either cheaper to use some stock interior components or that it was a rule. Does anyone know if there are or were any rules that apply?

I have been a harsh critic of the design of the evora as it has some odd lines and looks like crap in most colors except for black. But what is nice with this is the extra elements that really break up some of the trouble spots. Love the air venting in the body work, the side skirts, spoiler, etc. As most have mentioned this is really nice to see and adds to the excitement of what's to come. Two thumbs up!!!

I don't understand the point of this at all. Turning the Evora into an Exige, eh?

I think it would race in a different class, right? Bigger engine, maybe in the touring car series as it has back seats?

...the evora has a much stiffer chassis and a dramatically lower coefficient of drag - certainly it's better-suited to high-speed circuits than the exige, and i wouldn't be surprised if in full race tune it outhandles the exige as well...

...give it a properly boosted motor, sticky tires, and aero bits, and it's a serious contender for endurance racing, especially by comparison to our fussy 2ZZ-GE powerplants...

I suspect that because it will be used for endurance racing, they have to prep the car for driver changes during the race. it's much easier for a driver to adjust the mirrors from the cockpit than to have crew members trying to mess with them during a driver change.
