The point is... looking at dollar for dollar, it would be in 911 turbo price range.

@bavarian, dont be so negative about our newest baby

So why not buy the 'stock' evora and give it to a tuner to put some supercharger on it, problem solved?

I desire an Evora convertible. I like the idea of a super light package where you would get such things as ceramic brakes, titanium exhaust… I hope Lotus allows the onboard computer and display to hold all the manuals and do self diagnosis. A customizable screen where I could put select parameters to be displayed (e.g., fuel consumption, intake temperature…) would be cool.

I wish someone could have got their hands on the power point presentation shown at LOG. I would like to have a better look at the Elise/Evora/Esprit outlines. I did notice that the Esprit was only slightly bigger than the Evora while the Evora was a more than a little bit bigger than the Elise.

I don't think it will touch 911 turbo price range. That table is reserved for the grandmother of all modern Lotuses, the Esprit

Fine... I'll be nice to Evora, but I really think she needs to stop eating and work out a bit

surprised nobody's mentioned, but by golly, looks like the Evora has BUMPERS!
(or at least doesn't look like it'll require full clam replacement)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but more. Much more. 200 lbs more. Get with it already!

Evora: ~3000lbs / 400HP = ~7.5lbs/hp
Exige S: ~2077lbs / 220HP = ~9.44lbs/hp

p2w still not THAT bad IMO ... but like i said i would really HAVE to test drive it

I just hope the Esprit doesn't use that ugly Evora styling, even if they widen the whole chassis.

Detroit 2008: BMW's twin-turbo 4.4L V8 - Autoblog Rumored Esprit's engine. I say atleast 500+ HP with this twin turbo V8 goody.

Will the back seat be big enough for a baby car seat?

I agree, 400 hp and around 200 pounds lighter than a C5 Z06 is pretty darn fast any way you cut it. Even with 400 hp and around 3000 pounds it's about equal power to weight of the C5 Z06.

The scary thing is that the Nissan 370Z (350Z replacement) is rumored to be around 340 hp and right at 3000 pounds (big weight trim from 350Z) for around 30 grand. That's power to weight better than the E46 M3.

The fourth post. It's speculation that some weight can be stripped off in trying to make a faster variant. Most of the discussion appears to respond/revolve around this speculation at the beginning of the thread...

I heard from Autoblog that Honda and Nissan are interested in developing cheap applications of carbon fiber to lower vehicle weights by up to 40%...

So... How's a 2000 lb Honda S2000 sound? Assuming they get it right.

Long way to go.

the S2000 @ 2000lbs with a unisteel body ain't work. Honda should build an aluminum chassis -like the NSX- but make that smaller and a lot less expensive.

Honda S2000 needs a lot more than a weight reduction to be on top.

Why is that? I would take a 1900 pound S2000 with it's F20C over a 1900 pound Elise with it's 2ZZ any day. It would probably be faster, more reliable, have better build quality and more economical.

...i thought the s2000 already used an aluminum chassis?..isn't that what was so special about it when it was released back in '99, that both it and the insight were produced and sold at a loss at first to get honda's aluminum chassis assembly line into production?..
