A tinge of bending-over-backwards-to-say-good-stuff-about-the-Brit-car, just like whenever Top Gear gets a British car on the show. Gekko knew when he said on Wall Street that the British always feel they have a pot better to piss in.

As a Brit reading this forum to see what you guys think of the Evora, I have to say that the reviews are more critical in the UK mags than the American ones so far.

I've been compiling a summary of reviews (you can read it here), and you can see that we seem to be a lot more cynical over this side of the water.

We'll have to wait for the in depth coverage, but it looks pretty positive so far.

Thanks for the summary of reviews Brits are definitely harsher critics of anything British

The main gripe is the price point at this time!

Around $5000 more than a Porsche Cayman S. Then again only 2000 are being built.

For me personally I don't have the need to feel exclusive. Think this car has great potential. Second year build would be the time to roll on one.

A previous article noted that the Evora interior used real metal and in fact used quite good quality materials. The issue might be that the interior seems more cobbled together. I haven't seen one in person so I'll reserve judgment.

I don't see a lot of Caymans on the road. lots of Boxsters and 911s. I think Porsche buyers may be a bit confused about the Cayman.

I'm not sure of the pricing in the US, but here in Australia, the Cayman S when optioned to the same equipment standard as the Evora (I used Porsche's on-line configurator) is about 5% more expensive.

I know from when I bought my C4S, that Porsche options are expensive!

Just ordered up my second Cayman S very nicely equipped last month. The tab will be $67,000 and change. Getting the proverbial brother-in-law deal.

Leasing this sumbitch too.

That sounds like a good price!

...But what's the "list price" on the Cayman configuration you've ordered, inclusive of options - say, for someone who can't get an extended-family discount?

I read that the Evora is 50% stiffer than a Ferrari F430... If that's true, that's absolutely incredible and shows Lotus' expertise in engineering.

Wow! That is a good price!

I just used the US Porsche configurator to to price up a Cayman S to the same level of equipment/trim as a similarly equipped Evora (with Sports Pack and Premium Pack) and the total wasn't much short of $80k!

By the time you include 19" Wheels, Sports Seats, Full Leather, etc, for the Porsche, the price premium for the Evora isn't really that much...

Being compared to a Cayman S is a great compliment for a brand new car. The CS is a great ride in almost every way. The problem is the kind of pricing you can get a perfect condition '06 or '07 CS for - $35k-$45k. Screw new.

The "proverbial brother-in-law deal" is mostly Texan slang. Do happen to know the owner of the franchise personally but truth be told these days... Porsche is dealing here! My savings is around $3000 or so but most anyone could get around a $2000 or so discount. Additionally Porsche has fantastic lease deals and cheap money if you care to outright finance one.

Why did I lease my first Cayman and why will I lease the next one? In this very unstable market these vehicles have been depreciating rapidly. Don't believe in throwing hard cash into a depreciating asset.
