I see. So the Panamera is not supposed to be a bang?

Hello $85,000 neuvo Lotus.

Hey Paisa, it's "NUEVO"

DU, while I do agree there will be dealers who'll mark up the price, the majority will not. Those kind of dealers haven't sold many cars and my understanding of the 1st quarter allocation is that Lotus has formulated an allocation system based on performance which means some dealers won't see their first Evora until the 4th quarter I'm seriously considering getting one and have spoken to many dealers regarding wait list and their pricing policy which most all seem to be saying the same thing:

1. Deposit list is long, potential prospect even longer
2. If you're a repeat customer the price is MSRP
3. If you're a customer that lives in their market, you have priority over someone who doesn't.
4. If you are outside their market, a $5000 market adjustment will be added.

That being said, one dealer in FL flat out said $10K over but even he said he didn't know what their allocation was going to look like and neither did all the dealers I spoke to. Apparently this is the last month for dealers to improve upon their allocation and they should know by the middle of next month what their allocation will look.

Evora to the Deserving

I hope the first Evora delivered in the USA goes to someone who is a true Lotus guy (or gal).

The first Elise went to someone unknown to the Lotus community who sold it after a year.

Well, the first Elise did go to a Lotus guy even if he sold it. He was friends with Arnie and a moderator here. Still comes back from time to time.

But I agree with your thought. How about this? Lotus... sell me the first US Evora at MSRP. I asked on here a while ago which dealers were taking deposits and met with little response. Now I read about waiting lists and premiums... argh. I did talk to someone at Lotus about this some time ago, don't recall who. Maybe Arnie. And I was told they might reserve the first car for some VIP. But hey... I will throw my hat in the ring.

And I won't sell it in a year!

+1. I think you should get the first Evora. And, as part of a public relations event for Lotus and ChaseCam, you should fly over to Lotus USA in Georgia and drive the Evora back to California posting videos on the trip and public reaction to the new Evora along the way. It would be some good publicity for both Lotus and Chase Cam.

Perhaps Abe may be a good contact?

Yeah, if I did get the car, I would have to do it that way. It is a tradition now.

Georgia to Tail of the Dragon. I would probably head back to Chicago and down Route 66 again too. Good photo op. Plus I can video the whole drive.

xtn
agree - and buyer are looking in a particular catagory - sometime that is "prestige" and they don't really car other than how many people will stare at them whenn they pull up to valet. i knew a guy that couldn't decided between a 911 turbo or an m5 ??? but just goes to show what he was shopping for.

what most interesting is that the evora will be getting compared to ANY porsche at all... that in iteslf... is turnabout!!

Its specs read like the GT-R's. Physics defying characteristics...not in the Lotus DNA.

The Panamera will most likely go the path of the VW Phaeton. Porsche is building something antithetical to their core philosophy much like the Cayenne.
They are only able to build it because they bought VW to lower their carbon footprint in accordance to EU mandates.

But, a cool car it is...

The are a few exceptions like the GT3RS...

I feel the Evora would be best compared with the base Carrera...
Any VF2 equipped Elise/Exige would humiliate the entire porsche lineup.

We need to bump that George Clooney off the list. He'll only be using the Lotus to get more tail while you my good friend will be using it to run the Tail.

Bet 'cha a dollar that some dealers will be bumping that MSRP $20,000 or so. Hell... BMW used to do it with M3's and even that girlie Miata received a marker adjustment of around $7000 in San Diego when they were introduced.

Like your rosd trip idea.

I don't understand why folks get so worked up about a car manufacturer expanding their brand. Porsche has a lot of off road racing history to tie to the Cayenne's current endeavors. Any brand that wants to survive on a global level needs to diversify. It's not like they're building tractors....Oh wait they've already done that.

O yeah... I'll see your VF2 and raise you .. big bang for the buck

Come to think of it, the Tiger is a bit of a looker compared to the Pan and Cayenne and the Valet makes sure to park you in the front.

Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger (P) VK4501(P) / Porsche Typ 101

Porsche has been selling the crap out of those Cayennes.
