The Evora's rev limit is 7,200 sustained right?
I remember the Elise had an over rev feature for about two seconds - but does that apply to the Evora?
Reason I ask is that I noticed I'm hitting the rev limiter at 6,500 rpm. I checked Lotus' site and max power is at 6,400 rpm: Evora Specifications | Lotus Cars Hope this isn't another issue with my Evora (pointing fingers at the Radium CAI). Oh, I had the dealer reset the ECU when they installed the sports exhaust yesterday.

Usually 6500RPM is the Rev Limit in regular ECU mode and 7000RPM is in sport mode. I remember back when I had the Radium installed for the first time, rev limiter would not allow revving over 6500. I reset the ECU and it fixed the issue. Try it it might work for you as well. I need to mention that every time that we've done a dyno we can clearly see that there is not really any power gain passing 6800 RPM.

Was the car completely warmed up? My rev limiter is variable, based upon engine conditions. If I try to "show off" leaving the company parking lot, I get rev limited at 4000 rpm, I believe.

Sorry. I forgot to mention, sport mode was on. Actually, it's the second thing I do after turning the ignition. The car was warmed up and just drove about 12 miles.
I've disconnected the battery and will see how it goes tomorrow.

Allan, I have the Kold-Fire cable so resetting the ecu is just a matter of a click with that cable. Leaving the power disconnected does the same thing, just make sure to let the car idle for 10 minutes before driving it for the first time after a full battery unplug.

fyi my ECU peak was 7209, 4 other readings in the 70xx's; so believe Rev Limit (in Sport mode) cuts at 7000 with some over run.

Don't know what I was smoking, I have corrected my post: Rev counter, not rev limiter.

Do you have N/A IPS? In that case only it's a different rev limit;
According to Lotus "Please note that due to gearbox limitation, the max rev limit on Evora fitted with Lotus IPS is 6500rpm. The additional rev limit usually available by pressing the sport button is therefore cancelled in order to preserve the car." Last edited by mkt; 01-29-2013 at 01:38 AM. |

fyi from last nights dyno results my stock peak power came at 6100 rpm torque at 4300
with headers and tune: 6600 and 5000 rpm. Really not much use above the standard 6600 redline

On a side note, I'm going back to the stock air box. I also ordered a KoldFire 290 tune from British Racing Group: ECU Tuning for your Lotus

The stock air box is back in. Looks like the rev limiters coming in around 6,800 now. I should have the Kold Fire tune in a few days. Hope it get me to the 7,200 limit.
