This looks interesting. Granted, it's a lot of speculation at this point. The R8 weighs about 3450 lbs with the V8 and about 3575 with the V10. Based on those figures, the R2, if it gets to production, could underweigh the Evora. Lotus has decided to play by the rules of the rest of the car world. I wonder if they really read the rule book when they decided on the weight and engine of the Evora. It seems that with the 2010 Boxster and perhaps the R2, there may be serious competition. But competion is usually a good thing...

Believe you'll find that at the end of the day Lotus will NOT try and pitch this Evora against such performance powerhouses as the Audi and Porsche.

Hooples will buy the Evora for it's looks first and foremost and because it's "different".

It's the 21st century after all.
