Philly & NY Auto Shows

Anyone know if the Evora will make it to one of these? I know there usually isn't an official Lotus stand (Rothrock brings them up) at Philly, but will they get it for this year? It's not on the NY website either.

I believe they will not have a car in the USA until later in the year.

Oh right. I was thinking of the real cars. Not that one car. Never mind.

It's quite sad. Even Mosler has a booth every year at the NY Show. It's not much; a little corner with an MT900 in it next to a few Roush Mustangs and a representative, but it's something.

Lotus can't put SOMETHING together? Weak.

Trade shows are very expensive. It may come down to making decisions about where to put their dollars. They commit each year to the LA Auto Show.

I'll be working the philly auto show for Audi. Last time I was working for MV Agusta. I wonder what next year will be.

Kinda thought you would say that.

But is Mosler at LA Auto Show? No.

To work in the budget, Lotus needs the dealers to step up and represent. Which is also a hard thing to do in today's climate. Why spend $25K+ at an auto show if it does not mean you sell more cars?

But then.... they have other opportunities to showcase the cars... and I don't always agree with the decisions.

I agree trade shows are important. And I would lean to making sure they had a presence there. But every company at a trade show also has to be careful about being seen as too small at a trade show. Better to not be there at all, then to be there looking really small.

That's a good point...Ferrari was absent last year too Snobs!

As mentioned, Manhattan Motorcars has a display before the entrance points so anyone can view the cars, but the Lotuses are commonly lost among the Spykers, Bentleys and Rolls-Royce Phantoms, and to that note, it gives the impression that the Lotuses cost an exorbitant amount like the cars in its vicinity. If you didn't know any better and you saw the Lotus parked next to those other cars, of course you would think the Lotus is a $150k toy for rich people.

And what's wrong with that

So does anyone know if the LA Evora is still here, seems kinda dumb not to show in the east coast market even if it is with a dealer

Lotus has introduced the Type 72D among other special edition vehicles at the NY Show in the past. All the big reveals for the US are in LA.

Rothrock sometimes showsat the Philly show, sometimes doesn't.

As I recall Lotus sometimes shows cars to the faithful at LOG.

Also, over the last few years, the NY show has had a special display of Lotus car courtesy of Lotus Enthusiast’s Organization (LEO).

Dean,
You make a very good point. If it wasn't for LEO, the NY show in past years wouldn't have had any Lotus presence.

PALs has pushed Rothrock to become more active and occasionally the dealership has stepped up to the plate.

I think that car went to Japan right after the LA show. Don't know where it went after that. There should be several production validation cars running around (somewhere) by now.

I thought about going to the Black Tie Tailgate at the Philly show this year if the Evora would be there - oh well.

My wife and I went to the Black Tie event and stayed overnight in Philly a couple of years ago for Valentines Day, (her idea!) and it was a great time. It's open bar on the show floor all night, live entertainment, and butlered gourmet food, all while checking out the latest and greatest in the automotive world (and no crowds!). Highly recommended if you don't mind wearing a tuxedo.

Here is a pic of my wife enjoying a tequila sunrise while we were checking out a Subaru WRX.
