I could care less what car magazine testers think of the Evora nor how it compares to its classmates. I'll take a test drive and if I like it, I buy it. Probably a great platform for longer trips, plus I am not going to see one on each corner.

I hope Lotus follows up with a new Esprit featuring another "reliable" powerplant and gearbox ...and no automatic please.
Leave the Lotus a driver's car made for the sport/race car enthusiast, because if you just want to steer sth. around, have a look at other manufacturers. There are plenty of choices that are faster, less expensive, easier to get in/out, have more cupholders, satellite guided shifting, a batallion of airbags and are better for the environment.

...and I'd prefer my Evora (is that what they call it?) solar yellow or orange please.

A modern NSX, perhaps. 280 hp ME V6 at 3000 lbs. I'd certainly like to take one for a spin. I think it looks great anyway.

the day pics/specs came out, I emailed the dealer to be put on the list. I'd like to see it in person and drive it, but unless price is obscene (i.e. $90k vs. $60-$70k), I'll likely buy one.

Ditto. But even at 90k Assuming it's blown.

It'll be at the motorshow in L.A. this november and here (Houston) in January. It's gonna be locked up, but I suspect Tim may let people that are serious about it (waiting list?) get a closer look.

Lee Noble is available. Hey Lotus, why don't you let him/Roush show you how to get 425+ hp. out of your V6 and make Evora a proper sports car.

Actually that's the rumor i've heard from someone that's been to the factory, driven the car etc... twin turbo. I've also heard some staggering hp figures, but I'm not going to bother with those because I have to assume based on the number that it's pure speculation. I also heard pretty high on the pricing estimates.

I just hope they release it around the same time, but for a larger premium. That way it can simply be a choice of value - rather than the game they played with the Elise/Exige, releasing new better models each year for only a slight bump in price. That pisses people off and makes them regret their purchase, sell, buy another, only to be pissed off again the next year.

$70k opens up many other options.

$60k closes down many of those other options.

And that's my value proposition.

Not for a rare (exclusivity) yet new exotic... There will always be better performing, cheaper cars out there. I don't buy them because I want something that's more unique. And unique + performance comes at a price.

I'm serious about buying one - I like the 4 seat concept (for my kids - not adults) and have no plans to trade my Elise in. It needs company

I will say that the Evora has thrown my plans of selling my Ferrari Mondial t cab and buying a Ferrari 456GT out of whack. Now I want the Evora...decisions, decisions.

456s are a great buy, and naturally 550's are becoming a great buy with the 599 release. 4-seat Ferrari's never hold their value, and what a rush it is to drive one.

But ah hell, now don't know what to do. I know my GF would prefer the 456 over the Lotus (she hates the Elise). I'm looking at the Evora as a compromise between the Elise and say a 456. Well ****, if my stock performs well over the next 12 months before the Evora is available, maybe just buy 'em both

The 456 are getting soo cheap. Are they reliable (as compared to an Elise)?

Guys, an Exige 240S or whatever runs 70s. People lined up on this forum to get rid of their Elises for it...

70s seems "cheap" for that new Lotus. Since it is trying to go against 911 and the sort...$80s would seem about the right price.

Spent 2 hours at the Lotus stand at the London motor show. 18 months before auto option (no word on whether it will be a DSG/torque converter/SMG etc) and 30 months before high performance version.

He also quoted some very serious HP figures (pending on whether they choose turbo or supercharging). The Evora could run 400HP tomorrow if Lotus wanted it to.

ps. It looks absolutley fantastic in person. Options list looks pretty good too.

It's not hard to imagine that after market solutions would come out soon after the release. In the current applications for this engine, what are HP figures for turbo or SC'ed cars? What would be reasonable to expect?

The Evora will be a MAJOR disaster. It's getting 42% negative on a Lotus fansite. For $100K I'd be buying a Tesla. Better looks, better performance, Better green, and no gas bill.

Realize that many current Lotus owners (Elise/Exige) are NOT the target demographic for this car. I know I'm not.
