Just back from Norm Baker Lotus. Thanks for the hospitality and the chat. I loved ther Evora in the flesh. And at 6', I fit in it very nicely. I took my 6'1" brother along and we didn't rub shoulders as he sat in the passenger seat-a first for a Lotus! Great fit and finish. And I was assured the final production model will be just under 2900 lbs when it finally hits our shores, so you can be certain Lotus has heard everyone's cries of "3,000 pounds! Noooo!!!" It's headed off to Japan next, they told me, so who knows when we'll get to see one up close next. Probably when they go on sale next year in the U.S.

I'll post pics when my brother figures out where his camera wire is...

Nope-sorry. The rep there did say that it was heading to port (I assumed L.A.) that day after its showing in Vegas, with Japan as its next stop.

Were back home today. I'll remind my brother to download those pics!

As many of you know Roger Becker gave a presentation on the Evora at LOG 28 in Indianapolis. He showed video of winter and crash testing. He has plenty of engineering slides and even a few of the next Esprit (code named MSC for Mid-engined Super Car). One of the slides, shown below, was the Evora chassis with its engine fitted with a supercharger.

It always seems a bit odd. I see wild speculation about future Lotus models pulled from all over the world and the web. I go to a Lotus Owners Gathering (LOG) and am shown a PowerPoint presentation or model of the company’s future plans.

Back when the Esprit V8 was being introduced the engineers at LOG I was able to get straight answers about engine design philosophy and the trade offs considered concerning: belt vs. chain driven cams and why a turbocharged small displacement V8 was chosen over an engine in the style of the Corvette Z1 engine (Lotus designed).

When I bought my car at that dealer, there were many Superformance cars in the showroom, and only a couple Lotus (mine being one of them since they were expecting me. )
