I have door illumination as well. All 3 center column panels have lights.

I'd suspect that the lights in panel #1 just aren't working on yours. Whine to the dealer.

That being said, my center column was VERY dim until I unplugged the DRL plug. Now it dims/brightens with the dimmer button. Initially I thought they weren't even working. They work, but aren't super bright.

My center panel is completely dark. Yep, I'll be whining depending on what Lotus has to say.

Meanwhile, I'm still excited as Hell about this car!

I think your dealer does not know what they are talking about, which will be confirmed by Lotus even my fairly basic 2+0 has these illuminated. I was stuck in a traffic jam on a motorway as I was going to be there a while I switch the lights off, switch the engine off and as the cabin darkened I noticed the window switches were still illuminated.

The controls on the centre panel are core instruments and from a safety point of view need illuminating.

You may find that the TechWiki from Seloc would be a useful source

Finally got an answer from Lotus-Atlanta. All faceplates are illuminated
but only certain cars have the knobs with the illuminated
dots. Next thing is seeing if the illuminated knobs
can be retro-fitted.

I checked today, and the knows have a passive illumination, and I. E., the light from the panel shows through the red dot. Put a piece of paper under the knob and it gets dark. But in any case it is very dim.

There is only one part number, so they should all be illuminated (unless the first LE batch was different).

How about the all the adjustment of the climate knob occurs with switch last 3 clicks hot or last 3 clicks cold. Middle 3/4 of dial does nothing. Will be called Lotus about his as my dealer never quite understood the issue. Only issue unresolved.

Correct. Brian Shepard amended his first email:

I would like to correct my statement earlier. The silver knobs have a clear dot to allow the light from the faceplate to illuminate through the knob to indicate the position. I spoke with a technical person and if your panel is not illuminated you will need to take your car to the Lotus dealer. Please let know if I can be of further help.

Best regards,

Brian

I've noticed that, too. Won't really be a problem to me until it gets 100 degrees around here.

No at 100 you run full cold. You run full hot in really cold weather. Its that "normal 65-75 degree day that's a PIA right now.

The heater/AC regulation is a completely different story, it is deficient by design and much more complex than the missing regulation.

The knob just allows you to mix the flow of air going through the A/C and the heater. It controls a simple baffle in the system, but doesn't even do that well. The real fun starts with the fact that the air coming into the system is taken from a duct behind the radiator. This means that the starting temperature is already unstable. The faster you drive the more the intake temp approaches ambient, get stuck in traffic and it gets pretty hot to start with.

I've had to turn the A/C on and turn it to full cold in sub-0 weather because I was sweating while standing in traffic.

Only solution would be an automatic climate control (which you would expect in a car in the Evora price range). Lotus probably has it on the road map - - for 2020

I seem to use full hot or full cold in Seattle. Like you say, no range in that dial (maybe a simple toggle switch of hot/cold would be lighter ;-) Also a/c must be on at all times or she'll fog up.

Like wise, the A/C in my Evora is some much better that my 2005 Elise.
I have found the A/C in the Evora to be good. The controls work fine for me. In LA it gets hot in the summer 100+, it has not let me down. Now the Alpine head unit is anther story.

I agree the AC works well under normal circumstances, but gets pretty disturbed at high speed. Just finished a 300 Km run at 37F (4C) including 78 Km at very high speed (235 KpH). Turn the heating up full and everything is well. Then we got off the highway into city traffic and had to turn the heating full off and the AC on. The system is pulling the soaked heat from the radiator into the cabin.

Dealer tech just showed me the circuit board for the climate control. It had no bulbs nor bulb holders. New one going in under warranty.

He said some early models had no illumination for the center console, FYI.
