Realize that the Evora is much closer to the Esprit in performance and size than the Eliges ever were. The Eliges were back to the future for Lotus. In the current era, 3000lbs is still a VERY light car compared to the vast majority of what's out there.

Until some of you diehard Elige owners actually drive an Evora and realize that it handles and steers EVEN better than the stock setups on the Eliges...... NO JOKE. Granted after maxing out the caster, black art play with toe and camber being added in serious quantity, my Elise was on rails, but it understeered miserably when stock esp with the always cold A048's on the street. I just did a nice 150 mile roundtrip to my dealer (Secor now that Valenti gave up), first long ride of the year and was again amazed at how damn comfortable the Evora is while being razor's edge sharp the handling is... got my chrome taillight bezels replaced and new shifter boot installed (Orignal was hard as cardboard (just need the little retainer ring to hold it on.... no wonder it never stayed put).

Ironic then that you started a thread about reducing the Evora's weight.

Everyone is looking for something different in their sports car. For me, I left Porsche because, although they were increasingly improving performance, they were losing the connection between man and machine. The Elise is the right car for a visceral experience. Because that is what I was looking for, I have no interest in the Evora.

I have both a 991 S and a Boxter S and the new 991 turns in much better than the older 911s. While the Boxter/Cayman is easier to drive fast, the 911 is more rewarding IMO but to each his own.

Reliability issues are something you'll have to deal with wrt the Evora.

Resale value is also an issue. Why do you think there is so much supply of Evoras?

It's also much slower.

This is not even close to a fair comparison.

Here's my 2 cents. I have an Exige S and an Evora S GP. I can't decide which I like better. The Exige is obviously like no other appearance-wise. It is DEFINITELY more fun to drive. I'm not saying that the Evora isn't fun to drive. But for cornering, it's the Exige hands down. If you prefer comfort and convenience, the Evora is unquestionably the choice. I take them both to car shows, and the Exige seems to be the favorite, even though the Evora is the GP edition. So it's a matter of desire. The most fun, or the most comfort. Just my opinion.

Top Gear power lap times - Exige S is faster by 0.6 seconds over the N/A Evora (at 1:25.1). For comparison, that time differential per mile of track is almost exactly the difference between Vettel's and Raikkonen's fastest laps in the Bahrain GP last week (finished 1st and 2nd respectively - yes, I know I'm a nerd). IMHO, that is not "much slower", but of course we all can define that term however we like.

Put a deposit down on a 2011 Evora S this afternoon. Car has 135 miles on it, going to pick it up in Oregon and drive it back to Michigan. Super pumped.

Congrads. Those were the lowest priced new 2011 Evora S I saw. I don't know why they call them used with only 65 miles on it.

Congratulations, BEAUTIFUL car !

Be sure to follow the Break-In Instructions in the Owner's Manual.
There are RPM and Acceleration recommendations and limitations for the first 600 and then 1,000 miles.

Just a follow-up on Bobsy Racer's reference to factory notes on break-in process: the "S" has the same limitations/wordage. I would add during the 600 miles limits of 4000 rpm and 1/2 throttle that care be taken on the highways to vary the engine speed, do not let it bed in at a single speed .. vary your driving and gear selection.

Thanks for the break-in advice guys. Looks like the road trip is off and I am going to have to have the car shipped =/ . I have a couple triathlons coming up and I just dont have time to squeeze in the trip. I'll get some photos when up when the car arrives.
