Charlie X-please read

Charlie,
My car is at Monkeywrench racing and it has been there over a month now. I am certain that it is you that they are trying to get in touch with as they mentioned that the person that needed to do the ECU burn just moved. I understand that you are the best. PLEASE contact Monkeywrench racing as I have been waiting over a month for my car and I am afraid it is going to start snowing here in Michigan before I can drive it home. I spoke to them yesterday and they were going to try to get in touch with you about a ECU for my car but they have been unable to contact you since your move. They can not fix my car until they hear from you.
Thank you
Derek

His website is goth.am and includes a forum, phone number, and calendar. I would guess that would be the best way to reach him. No guarantee he sees every post made here.

Charlie doesn't accept PMs - the poster is also new so probably not familiar with his postings and how to get in touch.
But this community can answer any question quicker than google!!

sorry about starting a thread

Sorry guys, I am new here and I wasn't sure how things worked exactly. I was looking and saw a similar thread so I thought I would give it a try to get in contact with him as it appears that he is active.

Also, Yes Monkeywrench is working on my car but they are "fixing" a Hass turbo set up. I purchased a 2006 elise with a Hass turbo that was never tuned properly. It appears to be a later kit and actually the components look pretty good. They are replacing the log type manifold with a custom header that they use on their Celica's. The intercooler also appears to be larger than what I have seen in pictures as compared to the FF340 set up. They tell me that they are pretty sure that they can get around 280+hp to the wheels with a reflash ECU but apparently that is the real key. Without it, they tell me that the piggy back set up will never really run smooth and they will not be able to get as much power out of it. I bought the car a month and a half ago and drove it right to their shop.

Derek

Hass turbo was a disaster of epic proportion for everyone but me, and I substantially re-worked the kit in a number of ways. I do think the Hass setup is fixable and I was able to use most of the parts, but I re-worked the exhaust manifold, exhaust, and did my own tune with the Greddy eManage, which works fine and has worked fine now for about 3 years.

The knee-jerk reaction of everyone is the Hass is crap and you should just start over.

they can call me or email me to talk about it, matt should have my details, i do travel a lot but i usually get around to it sooner or later.

i think you're looking for the non adaptive reflash, i don't really sell that one anymore except in very specific cases.

( i sent matt an email )

cheers

Charlie can correct me if I am wrong, but the non-adaptive reflash is not really necessary if you are going to tune with a piggyback like the eManage. You have to be careful not to try to tune away from stoichiometric in closed loop with a piggyback. If that last sentence does not make sense to you or your tuner, then RUN away! My tune has been very stable and my adaptives stay within about 2% of stock at all times when running closed loop.

At WOT (not closed loop) is where you want to focus much of your tuning, to be sure the car does not go lean.

Now a full flash tune is much more sophisticated and Charlie knows how to do that, but I do not think it is necessary to get the car to run safely and reliably. It will likely help with some drivability, esp. idle, and may help on the big end if the VVT can be altered to reduce overlap.

Check my thread here for details of my personal experience.
