ECU Dump second opinion

I have an ECU dump from a 1 owner, 12000 mile supercharged Elise I am considering buying. Could anyone give me an opinion as to whether this shows up anything I should be concerned with? Thanks in advance!

As the car has 12000 miles on it, I'm assuming the ECU has been cleared at some point, but 40 hours of data, and the same owner since new should mean this data is typical, right?

Total running time 40:38

RPMs - 8827 8745 8729 8720 8696
Coolant - 84.18 82.93 88.05 87.92 88.05
Max KPH - 197 196 191 189 188
Fastest 0-100 - 25.5

Throttle position -
0-1.5 - 15:33
1.5 - 15 - 21:20
15 - 25 - 0:34
25 - 35 - 0:18
35-50 - 0:18
50-65 - 0:7
65-80 - 0:4
80-100 - 0:14

Engine Speed -
500-1500 - 12:5
1500-2500 - 5:30
2500-3500 - 11:52
3500-4500 - 7:32
4500-5500 - 2:2
5500-6500 - 1:4
6500-7000 - 0:17
7000-7500 - 0:7

that car was babied! ...whos the sissy

i would call that a very mild break in.

the 40 hours is consistant with the 1,000 mile ecu dump - which is what your looking at, and not the current 12k milage ecu dump.

Yea, unless he's intentionally hiding something...
See if he has the dump prior to it being cleared...

All five top engine speeds are above the rev limiter. FWIW. Not under warranty anyway.

Every ECU dump I've seen has those. Even mine did at the 1K and I'd never taken it over 6000rpm.

I've no doubt that's true, but if you had had an engine problem, and Lotus decided to be nasty about it, they could've said no dice on warranty work and there wouldn't be much you could do about it.

Thanks for all the feedback. I've been looking at all the ECU dumps I can find on this site, and most of the ones I've seen have had the max revs around the 8800 mark, so I'm not too worried about that, I don't think. And the meagre throttle openings give me a lot of confidence. Even though the ECU was cleared, it has been with the same owner since new, and I have no reason to think that he would have babied it more after fitting the SC than he did before.

Seems like this may be my next car after all.

True I guess, but I'm not a lawyer. Has there actually been any documented cases (on here) of warranty denial based on an ecu dump. It would be interesting to hear about it.

There was a case of an Esprit owner being refused a warranty claim as the engine ECU reported that it had been thrashed from cold virtually every day.

My worthless opinion: you need a current ECU dump, not the one you were provided. Take the car to a dealer and have them do it right there along with an inspection. That way you can make an informed decision about the car.
