P0106 and high altitude / FI / high load

The P0106, often listed as MAP sensor range failure since OBDII codes share between car types, code is a pretty rare code, we get it on the dyno when tuning the higher HP FI cars and normally i just expand the error range the barometer is allowed to see

However if you're at a high altitude and whaling on the car, its possible you'll see it too, since the altitude is so much higher the range is effectively a lot more limited, and they're just aren't that many cars at that altitude.

So if you get it ( it can affect the S, Elise SC, VF, BWR, Katana's etc basically any of the FI cars) then drop me a note and i'll update your ecu with a special for altitude, if you're not likely to run often, at high load (ie track), at something like 5000 altitude then just clear the code and carry on, but if it happens regularly then contact me.

I've only ever heard/seen it in the field twice, once today with a BWR using my tune, and once at Log in aspen on an Elise S1, and maybe a half a dozen times on the dyno over the years.

It doesn't cause any damage, but it does limit the RPM to 6000 because it thinks somethings wrong, as the barometer correction is basically out of range.

cheers
