...has anyone picked up the full version with the elmcanII WLAN OBDII interface?..

...how's it perform?..i see a several-week waiting list on their website and wonder if it's worth the wait, or if i should just buy a standalone ODBII tool instead...

ronin/frank bought one, he's waiting delivery. the Elmcan isn't good enough for CAN bus on the pre 08 cars ( not that you can use it with them anyway since they're not CAN OBD II, but k line, which it might support too )

i've been messing with one but i'm doing it on jailbreaks only

Cool was sitting at the pub tonight and a fellow track rat handed me his Nokia... with all his PerformanceBox data on it, including GPS track maps, etc.

No idea where to find the app, but he said some Finnish guy wrote it and it was free.

...sorry, charlie, i'm too neophyte i think to parse this correctly...

...are you saying that the elmcan product can't talk with the OBDII ports on the pre-08 cars, or that it uses a different bus protocol which may suffer diminished functionality?..

I've got that nokia n95 app somewhere, i'll dig it up codymac.

jailbreak just allows you to do more stuff with the phone especially bluetooth, apple lock out a lot of the more interesting parts since they don't like giving away a piece of the aftermarket accessories market.

If the elmcan box has K Line (regular OBD II ) then it will work on pre 08 cars, but it isn't compatible with the CAN bus, on 08+ cars it does support the CAN bus, but the pre 08 cars aren't OBD II CAN anyway, so it just means you can't use the elmcan with any other software that does support the CAN bus on pre 08 cars.

It was cool, but it'd be really hard to give up my iPhone at this point.

Of course, if there's an iPhone port... I could be pretty easily talked into a PerformanceBox.
