Dam this sounds great!
I have done tuning before and would love to fix these issues just need the software.
I have a vf kit 12,000 miles on car 200,000 miles on the starter. I would love to fill the tank with out having to restart the engine 3 times after it stalls!

Today I received an ECU to look at for the 2005 model. My first priority is to deliver the '06-'07 followed shortly by the 2008+. After that I can look more closely at the 2005.

Waiting for the 2005 version.
I looked quickly at the tune found in a 2006 completely factory car. I am accustomed to seeing cars run very rich from the factory but this thing was as lean as I'd normally tune a 2ZZ. I definitely have driveability issues with Lotus's factory tune but my experience and instinct says you will never make 15bhp gains on a factory car.

When there is a product on the shelves I'll concentrate on more specific issues like tunes. I still occasionally enjoy tuning a car or two, but over a decade of hot loud dyno rooms, sore backs and hearing loss I find myself grumpy saying "I'm too old for this stuff".

At the end of the day I feel that my product with few good basemaps for a starting point is what the Lotus community needs. There are tuners and dynos in nearly every major city.

I've heard that the stock tunes are relatively lean. Right now I'm just hoping that the '06-'07 tuner is ready by spring time so I can add another 80hp or so!

Me! The stock tunes are quite lean. In fact on a stock naturally aspirated 2ZZGE I don't feel there is a lot of extra power to be liberated. There is some torque to be gained at the expense of emissions output but they don't run fat like many cars.

06EliseTurbo: no real updates because I'm busy testing and fixing bugs. I have a small snag that I need to work out since it seems that many dealers got lazy with updating firmware on the ECUs and programmed the VIN numbers incorrectly. I need to work out exactly how to properly code the VIN via the OBD2 port.

233 on 91 octane (crap) fuel on a Mustang dyno. I think with a dynojet that's somewhere around 260 ish.

The problem I have with my old efi is it doesn't utilize the factory knock sensor. I just completed a rebuild and was looking to add an aftermarket knock adapter (not sure how to word this). Thank God I saw this thread before I threw more money on my efi. If this is coming out soon, I would surely buy and replace my efi.

Do we have a target date on this being released for an 06 Exige? I seriously need to get my car going.

The '06 is already well tested in terms of operation and tuning but there are still a few recovery options I need to better implement.

Sometimes people don't exactly pay attention to what they're doing and things like turning the key off or having the battery go dead during a reflash can brick the ECU. In that case, it has to be sent in and I have to manually recover it by popping the back off. Nobody wants this to happen the Friday before race weekend!

Fair enough. Do you have a target date? I read earlier sometime before Christmas? How does this work as well? Do we send our ECU in or do you send us an ECU and we send ours in exchange so there is no down time?

I was hoping to roll it out before Christmas but unfortunately it looks like it will be after Christmas. I'm always late on these things because I'm too anal about trying to get everything perfect...

The way it will work is that you buy a Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 cable ($169) and you buy the software. The software will come with some base tunes for turbo, Supercharged and for NA cars. The principle purpose is freedom. You can tune it yourself, you can have your favourite local tuner do it. You can even fly someone in.

Any experienced tuner will be able to use the software with ease. I've been tuning for over a decade and I've used nearly all of the major systems out there. The software uses the best ideas I've come up with my years of experience.

Tuning is difficult and I'm not offering a how-to course, but you will have the tools to get the job done.

Need Help?

I'm a computer engineer with 32 years of programming. I haven't done any retuning though.

I have an '05 Elise so I'm looking forward to this! I was just about to purchase a pro reflash. Would you recommend doing that and then purchasing your solution to fine tune it for me? Or, wait for your software?

I can't guarantee that the system will allow you to take a tune done by someone else and migrate it over. I just haven't made a decision on this yet. On one side if you purchased the tune I feel it should belong to you and you should be allowed to edit it for your own use as you wish. On the other side I wouldn't want one guy to buy a professional tune and then post it on the internet for everyone to take.

For pricing, it will be less than a standalone option, I can say that for sure. It will definitely cost more than a tune for a honda given the quantity and the investment I have into it.

Wait for this software if you plan to fine tune.
