........or is that F1 grade Carbon Fiber fetish taking hold again?

Or do you just object to the spelling of the word "Fibre"?

Monday I'm ordering a spoiler from Eliseparts or Sinclair...

That gives you about three days to come up with a pic and prices. After that I'm out.

F1 grade carbon means its the same material that is used at the F1 teams A 2x2 twill that is pre inpregnated with resin and is vaccume bagged and cured in an autoclave at 135 degrees and 90psi of pressure thus consolodating the material so its strong but light.........?

I have been contemplating a front splitter for a while so I thought I'd put forth some of my thoughts. One thing to remember is that the slitter extends the front overhang hence reducing the already poor approach angle. It is also the first thing that makes contact with the ground. This can be a good thing if it saves ones front clam from damage. As we have seen here on the forum at least one poor Elise suffered significant front clam damage from the splitter hitting a curb due to the fact that all the impact is directed to the fragile lower section of the clam. So, that said, in my mind the splitter should be the weaker than the clam so that it absorbs the impact and does not translate it to the clam. It is a lot cheaper to replace or repair a splitter than a front clam. Why do you think that the Exige splitter is so thin and fragile...saves clam damage.
The design I prefer, and I will likely implement is a splitter that is incorporated into the front under tray and also acts as a front skid plate and does not rely on the clam for its structure. This is the design we use on our race cars, and it greatly reduces body damage due to off track excursions etc.
So, to recap, light is good, strong is not if the splitter is bolted to the clam.

The splitters are about 1.5mm thick so they would not be to strong to cause problems to the clam imho.
