Any interest in a group buy for Voltphreaks lightweight batteries?

Hi all,

Tony from Voltphreaks.com here. I believe this is the right location to post this group buy inquiry, if not please let me know.

We've just released generation 2 of our lightweight batteries. They have complete protection versus our generation 1 batteries, which prevents the user from overdischarging, overcharging, or using a faulty battery. This also prevents the user from ever returning to a dead battery in the event headlights are left on, or if the car is stored with the alarm on for more than a couple of weeks.

There are two models suitable for Lotus Elise and similar cars, the VPH400 and VPH700:

https://p10.secure.hostingprod.com/@...ison_chart.htm

Pricing has gone up over the first generation due to increased costs and the additional parts for the protection circuit. If anyone's interested in doing a group buy at 30% off, send us a private message.

Also we can offer 50% off if someone is willing to do a writeup on the automatic disconnect features of this battery (this is seperate from the group buy, meaning it wouldn't be 80% off if you did both).

Thanks!

- Tony (voltphreaks.com)

WOW

$1220 for VPH700 and $899 for VPH400

I'd say they went up! Has generation 2 gotten any better with holding up in colder conditions?

Same performance in colder climates, that's a limitation of the battery chemistry. Performance drops in colder cilmates, so you'd need a bigger battery if you live in extremely cold climents (meaning you couldn't use the VPH400, you'd need the VPH700).

One trick we've done is to leave the AC fan/blower on it's highest setting for a minute or two to warm up the battery.

for what its worth - my 4.5lb battery has been in for over 6 months and never any porblem - even sitting for 2 weeks (but in the garage with no alarm, and ~60 deg.) it starts the HID's with out the engine running as well.

custom fitfan voltphreaks bracket
for a great solution to mount it.

I've had the 3lb version in for almost a year with no problems. My car sleeps in the garage though - but it's definitely gotten into the 40's or so in there. Never a hitch starting.

Just recently had a problem with it being drained after sitting - to a point where it wouldn't take a charge, but Tony has offered to either charge it on their equipment or give me a deal on upgrading to their new VPH400 model (which is VERY slick - discharge protection circuit, on/off switch, overcharge protection, etc... never come back to a dead battery .

I'd say they definitely stand behind their products - and Tony's always been very communicative and helpful in emails
