First off, I have no complaints with dealing with dabears2k, Matt was helpful and easy to work with. That being said, looking at my lights (still in box), it appears to be exactly the same as what's on ddm's website. It does appear that DDM has been dropping their $ recently. Here's a link from DDM's site Price Check Please! where they were doing a price comparison and listed the 55W at $155 as of 3/26/08. On 5/1/08 they dropped prices $15, which given their current $ of $100 means they went from $155 to $115 to $100 since 3/26/08.

All that's a long way of saying...

Up until recently, getting from DDM directly meant no lifetime warranty and no plug and play...

Now it is a lifetime warranty, but their prices are going back up in a few days...

Matt,

You have a PM.

Also, bump for Raggedy1's question.

FWIW - there is a certain value in dabears2k coming here and selling this solution. I had been thinking about HIDs but frankly there are so many vendors out there I had little confidence that I'd be happy with my purchase or that it would be compatible with the Elise. The fact that dabears2k came here, presented a known-working solution, and had a track record of previous successful Lotus installs made him the correct vendor for me. Would I rather have saved the cash - absolutely. Would I have bought from DDM without the track record of dabears2k - probably not. The kit would be in my 'need to buy' list instead of my 'need to install' list.

no answer to my question.

I see what 4mica is saying, but I didn't get an answer to the question as to whether the ddmtuning kit is plug and play or not. I guess I could just go and ask them if I really wanted an honest answer.

Sorry, didn't see your question.

Yes, it is plug and play.

As I told RoadDad, you will never find better customer service than what we offer and have a track record of supporting the purchase before, during, and after. Other companies out there have been known to take up to 2 weeks to replace parts if they are faulty, because lets face it, they already have your money, so what's the rush?

We, as the few members who have had problems with their kit can attest to, ship out replacement parts same day and answer any and all questions within a few hours, 7 days a week...

This is true. Even though I had some problems with the products they carry their customer service is top notch. Matt has answered questions and fixed problems within a span of a few hours. Not many companies have that kind of turnaround time. They're an A+ vendor in my book.

there was a lot of debate over that a while back - semantics...

in regards to the factory lotus wiring harnes, it is not plug and play - no.

the new ballast plugs and plays into the old lamp connectors - yes.

at least thats the way it was like a year ago - i don't think it has changed?

whether you call that plug and play, or splice, or cheaper and easier, or reverse connection, is up to you! but i think it is an important enough distinction to make, if you intereseted or care about that sorta thing...

dabears2k seems like a good guy (met him once), and there are many people on here happy with the product - so i think you are safe to go with him. if you want to go with a custom kit that plugs into the factory harness, you will need get a different (more expensive of course) solution.

Matt speaks the truth - you won't find a more reliable resource out there to deal with. I know he stands by his product and runs his business 24/7 - so expect expedient and honest service! It's like hitting the easy button...

You referring to the star-shaped wheel key? Any Lotus dealer should have one - it's $8.

Yea it didn't work for me either. I put it on and ran the lights for about 5min to test and it melted and fell off. I used the screw holes on the ballast and some self tapping screws to mount it to the radiator housing. Solid now.

Hee everybody, just installed my first pair high/low beams and it is looking outstanding. Thanks a lot to dabers2k, really can recommend the HIDs, really great quality and plug and play. Will post some pictures later. Actually I did some research on the ballast mounting and a lot people recommended industrial great velcro from home depot and it is rock solid ^^. Really can recommend the stuff.
