What did you end of making them out of? Steel? Aluminum? Stainless Steel?

Just curious.

I assume that you also painted them black.

They are aluminum with stainless steel attaching hardware. Powder coated black.

am I the only one who's stock Louvers are bonded to the engine lid with some type of epoxy/adhesive. If I were to remove mine im afraid the glue would still be left behind.

They are attached with double sided tape. It is a pain in the butt to get off. I used a heat gun to soften the tape up then peeled off the plastic. After that I used the heat gun again and warmed up the residual tape on the lid and rolled it off with my fingers. BLISTERS!! Then I used Oops to take care of the rest of the film from the adhesive. Goof off will work too or really carefull paint thinner. It is a pain in the butt and the engine lid grills are the only ones attached with tape I think. I would reccomend touch up paint when you take them off. there are some rub marks on my car from the plastic vibrating against the lid while driving. The one piece of advice I can give is patience, patience, and patience.
