Remember not to pry on anything and do not apply any force in any other direction than along the slope of the windshield. If your mirror still does not move PM me with the details on what you have tried and I can try to help you.

Just did this as my first mod and it took me longer to read the instructions than it did to install it. Now I can see out the windshield! Great service and a great mod.

Tesprit: Do you still have the mirrors available for the hard top? Sounds like a winner. Order thru Pay Pal?

I am aware of the '07 Elises having smaller mirrors, but does anyone know if they attach to the windshield with the same mounting plinth/base as the '05 and '06 cars?

I'm pretty sure they use a different plinth glued to the windshield. I have no idea if it is one of the more common mounts, or still something uncommon, but supposedly it is not the same as the '05/'06 mounts.

By the way, for those that have '05/'06s, get tesprit's mirror/mount.

I bought the mount but not the mirror as I had another mirror in mind. That didn't work out, so I ended up buying a "replacement mirror" from the local discount auto store. Everything bolted up just fine, but the mirror vibrated. Then I ended up buying the same mirror that tesprit includes with the "kit" and not only is it a tad smaller, it doesn't vibrate.

The original mirror was so large and in my field of view, that I custom made my own small mirror. It worked great, but had no day/night feature.

With tesprit's mount and mirror (should have just gotten it from him in the first place), it works great. The mirror is up high where I can look under it without a problem. It doesn't vibrate. It has the day/night feature (which is important around here with every other SUV shinning their HID at eye level in the rear view). Highly recommended. It's what Lotus should have had from the factory.

I've got the GUT spoiler on my Elise, which with the Sector111 mirror, my rear vision is blocked. The spoiler is directly in the line of sight. Would the doubled jointed aspect of this mirror be any help getting some vision, or am I destined to cruise the freeway constantly eyeing the side mirrors...

I don't know specifically, but the mirror is adjustable up and down because of the double joints. I have mine up as far as possible to I can see out of it. But you could move it up or down as necessary to see around the wing.

Could you get a good position? There's only one way that I know of to find out...

Hi Mark, I do not know if this mirror would help your situation. It does place the mirror glass right up next to the header, so what I would do is to take a small hand mirror and have an assistant hold it up near the header and see if it helps. Our rear windows are so small, I don't think you will get enough of an angle change, but if you do please let us know.

Removed my oem mirror today. I used the roof off standing on the seats technique and used a washer and paint opening tool. Worked like a charm.
I was originally planning to mount the Autozone mirror with the afore-mentioned bracket adapter. I changed my mind and mounted it upside-down on the dash with stick-on velcro pads. It is stable enough for street driving and when i get to the track I can remove it altogether and will have an
unrestricted view out the windsheild for video-taping. Will try it out next track day.

Interesting. Wonder if that would pass inspection. Got any pics?

Yes, this is an interesting idea. Please post some pics. If, for some reason, it doesn't work out, if you were to use my adapter for your mirror it is very simple to remove the mirror and adapter from your car for track days and takes less than a minute to do it.

The mirror head is adjustable for height from inches below the header to tight up to the header so yes you could fit your radar detector between the mirror and header with correct mirror head positioning.

Smaller mirror kits still for sale

I just wanted to post an update on these smaller mirror kits. I still am getting many inquiries about whether they are still for sale and I realize this thread has not been updated in over 6 months.

The long and short of it is yes, I still have the kits for sale and will continue to have them available as long as I am able to source the mirrors. Sourcing the mirrors is actually easier now than when I first started selling these kits and CIPA shows no signs of stopping production at this time.

When I first started making these kits, the only mirror available on an Elise or Exige was the large mirror that was standard on the 2005 and 2006 cars. These are the only model years my kits are designed to fit. As of the 2007 MY cars, Lotus switched to a new, smaller mirror which uses a different mounting plinth that is incompatible with my mirror kits and adapters. The good news for owners of the newer cars is these new mirrors are the exact same size as the mirrors I supply and after seeing photos of them, they appear to be nearly identical to my mirrors if not the same mirror. It appears Lotus does pay attention to LT after all!

I can usually ship an order the next day unless I am low on parts, which in that case is 2 days. I usually have at least one or two kits on hand at any given time, however I sometimes sell two in one day which depletes my on hand stock. I am also still able to supply just the adapter if you want to purchase your own mirror. Prices for the adapters and the kits are still the same as posted at the beginning of this thread unless the USPS shipping rates rise again. If they do, I will adjust the prices at that time to reflect the actual rate change.

I will also try to post some better images of the mirrors to replace the poor images at the beginning of this thread now that I have a better camera. I have had many inquiries as to the color of the mirrors because in the current photos they look gray. The mirror heads are black and all the associated pieces of the mirror are black as well. The only parts that are not black are the adapter and the spacer (if you need one) and these parts are silver/aluminum colored. The adapter parts are hidden by the mirror base so there is no need to paint them and the spacer is finished in a matte finish aluminum gray. You can leave the spacer as is or paint it yourself in your choice of color.

I hope this update answers some of your questions, and please feel free to PM me about anything regarding these mirror kits or adapters. I am still amazed at the number of these kits I have sold (I stopped counting after 100 kits last year), so I want to thank everyone who has already purchased a kit or adapter from me as well as those of you considering purchasing one in the future.

This is a great mod. First thing I did to my car. Very easy to install and puts the mirror right up to the header. It is a little closer to the driver but works great and the visibility out the windshield is vastly improved. Dan is a great seller too.

Smaller rear view mirror

Got one from Tesprit and as am tall, can now I can see out of my windscreen properly.
Would recommend this mod to all with the early large mirror.

One tip: When sliding the old one out (downwards), just after releasing the clip, put a thin glossy business card between it and the windscreen. Just makes it easier to slide out and less likely then for you to scratch the inside of windscreen.
