Jermaine,

Still thinking about this for a winter upgrade. The clutch upgrade is sort of obvious but what else should I plan on? Valves/springs, pistons, fuel starvation fix, exhaust/cat change, etc?

Thanks.

It really depends on how far you want to go. If you plan on taking it easy and just bolting on a few parts. The Stage 2 kit will be fine.

If your true intentions are to race or do some track days it is probably a wise thing pick up a some type of fuel starvation fix either a surge tank or properly baffled gas tank. Either way I would say that is a necessity for helping keep the engine together on the track. In addition to that you may want to get a hold of the moroso oil pan. We actually carry them in stock as well.

When you decide to crack the motor open for rods, pistons and valvetrain your off the shelf packages tend to go away and what you are looking at is something more of a custom setup. If you were to do a low compression motor we could get your power levels up a bit higher than our typical Stage 2 base kit by using a smaller pulley and different tune. This would also need a custom tuning session either here at our Gaithersburg, MD Facility or if you would like Charlie or myself to come out and tune your car properly for the setup you choose generally the more expensive route.

I'd be more than happy to give you a hand in either direction you decide to go.

Thanks,

Jermaine

Recommended Exhaust w/ IC Upgrade

I am running the Larini Sports Exhaust System - SE Style with the Larini Sports Cat with the Katana Supercharger. Will I need to go back to the stock exhaust muffler and cat system with this upgrade to stage II, or some other system?

Currently, no emission error codes unless the exhaust starts leaking. The clamps work loose about every forth autocross and the S111 HD motor mounts may fix it.

Thank you, Dan

Hello Dan,

You should be find with your Larini Exhaust. No reason to take off your perfectly working exhaust parts.

Thanks,

Jermaine~

Thanks, It was in mind that the tune would be upset over the less restrictive flowing exhaust.

Upgrade input

I asked this via pm but maybe the rest would want to know. I am going to be installing your VF2+FF header w/stage 2 and I am thinking about adding the Blackwatch larger throttle body. What do you think about adding the throttle body?....and can CharlieX tune for FF header and larger throttle body?

Our base tune will give you a decent starting point but my recommendation anytime you decide to start changing like like headers, throttle bodies etc. You should do a custom tune. It may seem like the expensive way to go, but it is by the best solution for you.

Charlie and myself are constantly traveling around the US so it is very hard to piggy back a tuning session onto one of our scheduled trips.

Thanks,

Jermaine

I'm going to ask the idiot question here, so start with a Katana or BWR, add stage 1 and get stage 2 for free?

Stage 2 for about 6 months now and the stock clutch is holding fine. I am easy off the line (feathering at higher RPM can cause slipping) , and I do make distinct shifts (no full throttle shift), but the clutch holds just fine once the car is moving along.

Passing in 6th was a welcomed addition

I would like to upgrade the clutch just for safety sake, but its not a requirment as of yet.
