I prefer to think that the Elise rear end looks classic in the way of the Ferrari Dino. If its LED taillights then its modern and classic at the same time.

I think its more of a generalization and not so much a slur. Calling Germany the land of sour kraut is as offensive as calling America the land of hot dogs and apple pie or calling Italy the land of pizza, calling Mexico the land of the burrito or calling Switzerland the land of cheese. A bit of a generalization, but not a slur.

I like the telsa, particularly the integrated spoiler/wing that reminds me of the similar wing on the NSX, but the car is more understated than I personally think a 100K car should be. IMHO that is one of the best parts of the elise, it is so bold and flashy.

BTW this guy called:

And he said to stop making fun of his car:

BTW, I love the Reventon, it's not really the same "hot mess" that the Tesla is from a styling perspective.

Ah.... No.

The term was commonly used in a derogatory fashion during and after world war II. It was not the same a hot dogs and apple pie. It one of the long list of ethnic slurs used to refer to people from other countries.

Which looks better? What do you mean by "better", anyhow?

If "better" for you means more exciting, more exotic, more radical. . . . then the Elise clearly looks better.

However, please understand there's a whole class of people who aren't eager to be seen flying down the highway in an automotive gargoyle or mutant grasshopper. They may have played with Hot Wheels cars when they were small, but don't necessarily want to drive one today.

To me the Tesla has cleaner and more flowing lines, it's sleeker, more understated, more refined, more of a timeless classic impression. That's my idea of "better looking".

It does depend on what you're used to. When the Tesla was first unveiled, my impression was: bland. Forgettable. I'd been accustomed to looking at Elises, I loved the Elise, and the Tesla is indeed bland by the side of an Elise. But then, so are most cars in this world (Lambos and Saleens excepted).

If your point of comparison is a Miata or a Solstice -- cars most people in the automotive mainstream are familiar with -- then the Tesla looks like dynamite.

So, after looking at the Tesla for a while it became beautiful to me. I like the longer-and-lower form. (It isn't actually lower, but what they've done with the roll bar makes it look lower.) I like the clean deck in back. I like the smooth flowing curves and lack of "speed holes". I like the headlights. The wheels I really like too.

I'm not crazy about the vestigial wing in back, or the gaping black cutout scowl on the nose, but I can forgive them. On the whole I think it's fabulous.

I think that if you took elements from both designs and combined them, it'd make the ultimate car design.

Which looks better? The Elise. But the Telsa isn't too shabby either. Both look good.

It really doesn't have to be one or the other. Both can look good, we might just prefer one to the other, and either over many other cars.

You've always been quite the trendsetter.

It's all very subjective in the end.

With you there mister. Definitely a much more refined design in the Tesla. Maybe the Lotus boys will take note and cobble together something exciting for the next face lift of Buzzy.

You just HAVE to realize that the Beverly Hillbilly is a founding member of the local PC-R-Us chapter of Dogpatch.

I hope not. Having someone spray bleach in my eyes is exciting too, but it's easier on them than the Tesla.

I agree with most of what tonybelding says about the Tesla. It is a very good looking car, but park it next to an elise, and then it suddenly looks very bland.

I think the Elise is one of the best looking cars ever designed. From an aesthetic point of view, I think only the Miura and Dino are in its league.

I also have always liked the Countach, McLaren F1, and Zonda's appearance (among other cool exotics). But, i still think that these three cars below are in a league of their own when it comes to looks.

Words are not derogatory by themselves. The people that use them may be derogatory, but the words are innocent.

Just because lots of people used a word or phrase in a certain context in the past doesn't mean somebody today is using that same word or phrase in a derogatory capacity.

Try not to become offended any time you hear a certain collection of letters. Try to only become offended when somebody directly insults you.

So when driving in a car with somebody like my friend's granny from Texas and they say "lock your doors we are in n%@^$*r town" that's cool with you? Or when Jesse Jackson said "those folks in h*%ie town" in reference to a predominantly Jewish neighborhood and got loads of grief? I know personally that most Japanese/Japanese Americans still don't like to be called the derogatory word used for them in WWII by the allies that rhymes with Whip, that is why I mentioned I was glad he did not go to Japan. Pretty sure most adult Germans would not appreciate the slang/slur either.....

I am anti politically correct actually in most scenarios but when it comes to public forums/places I try to keep my biases or possibly offensive slang to a minimum more out of respect for everybody around me.
