Teslas On The Road!

I was driving down Hwy 35 today and came up behind a Tesla! Stopped off at Alice's and there was another one! Apparently Tesla organized an event for potential owners with deposits to take the cars out for a spin.

Cell phone pics below, that's my elise leaning in to check out its new cousin.

Tesla looks like a homemade Europa: (Imagine a car that makes a Lotus look like a mass-production model!)

Not from the back. The tail light treatment and rear valence on the TESLA is what the Elise should look like.

Personally, I'm not going to bust on the TESLA, even though I wouldn't own one. Lotus needs these kinds of projects to stay in business, they're not going to survive in the US (or perhaps at all) if all they're doing is selling a couple hundred Exige/Elise's a year.

I couldn't disagree more. The rear tail lights are the worst part of the Tesla in my book. I think that the Elise's tail light treatment is perfect.

I think it's very space age. I like them when I see them in person for sure. It's nice to see an Elise in photos with Teslas for comparison.

To each his own. I think the tail lights of the Tesla are the best styling element of the car, and better than the Elise. I'm still trying to figure out those fake plastic grills next to the Elise tail lights, though.

Those are eyelashes, and they look great for Elisa

The Exige don't have them.

That orange Tesla; it's what the Elise SHOULD look like. Keep the Exige the same. Then people would be able to differentiate between the two!!!

Beautiful

the tesla is actually very nice looking in the flesh, more than the pictures do it justice.

there was an audi r8 there as well. pictures do not do that car justice either, it is stunning in person.

As Scottyb put it to me, the R8 looks great from all angles...except the profile. It's miserable from that angle. Needs a big wing and some more aggressive front body work.

I dropped by the Tesla showroom in West Los Angeles in the Elise yesterday and checked it out. Really cool store and service area and the people were super nice and answered all my questions. We got there as 2 people were getting ready to go on a scheduled test drive. An elderly couple in their 70s I would guess? The top was off and the wife could not get in the car, so finally she put her full weight on the windshield and hung from it then plopped in the car. I said kind of quietly to the saleswoman, um, that looks like the same windscreen as the Elise , and she said yes it is the exact same windscreen. Then I said, you might want to tell people not to do what she just did unless you want the windshield breaking and injuring them , it is not a structural part of the car ! She was surprised and said thank you for that information we were not aware of that !

Nice color car, almost polar blue, the guy took off and it was eerily quite, looked like magic. Very
cool are and more livable luxuries than an Elise in many ways, BUT My only issue I realized is that unless they make 250' charging cables, I would not be able to charge the car at home, I live on the 3rd floor and have underground parking, no way in hell the building owner would let somebody sponge electricity from a parking lot outlet or allow me to drop a cable over the balcony. And at work , same situation, no way the company is going to flip the bill for me recharging all day !
