2009 Toniq R

Heh... just wanted to say it looks like we are moving forward on importing a Toniq R to the US. Should be interesting. Since we first visited the car, there have been some significant developments in the chassis, suspension, and drivetrain. A lot of design input was given by an engineer who had worked on the Elise. The car is now capable of having installed just about any Mazda drivetrain. We are looking at some options, but I would like to get good torque and about 400hp in the engine. Car is a little over 1000 pounds, so it should be fun and do 0-60 in under 3 seconds.

I will post more when things develop.

Right now, we are looking at a pearl white body, possibly with carbon fiber inserts and bits.

If anyone else is interested in getting one, let me know by pm. Thanks.

We may head over to the UK for some more discussions and test drives through the countryside in a couple months.

Here is the first gen Toniq R, but in German.

We had a great time driving around the Cornwall countryside. You know how it is over there, roads barely wide enough for two cars... walls of thickets and green on the sides, blasting around the corners. This was in the Honda Fireblade version with the sequential gearbox. Lots of fun.

Here is a video from the same roads-
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Fw7En9nJeLU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Fw7En9nJeLU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

We are leaning towards a Garrett turbo 2.3l engine in the next car.

What Tim Schrick says is the following: 'If the young man who came here from San Diego last year is going to show up again, he should invite potential German customers to join him'.

Should be fun. In a way, I want to build it... but reality is I will buy it assembled since I don't have the time.

Make sure you get an MSO (manufacturers Statement of Origin), separate receipts for the kit, engine, transmission, and labor if you have any hopes of registering it here in CA

Exactly. It made less sense at 2:1.

Unfortunately for me, the movement of the pound has negatively impacted my company's sales in the UK.

does anyone know what and how the chassis is, and what the front and rear suspensions are? any pics of that? toniq seems to NOT publish any photos of the mechanicals, only the body work?

All electronics are dollar based so they are going to just have to suck it up and buy.

Let me know if you need me to talk to them for you
