Caterham help..

If you are thinking of building a Caterham check out The Caterham Project - Build Site for a 2004 Caterham DeDion SVT. It kept me entertained through the winter of 2006while I was waiting for my Caterham kit to be delivered, I used it a couple of times during the build when things were not clear in the book or not mentioned at all in the assembly guide. The build process is not difficult, ordinary hand tools are all that is needed other than a 41mm socket a a 200ft/lb torque wrench for the rear axles. Mike

The Duratec is such a cheap form of power now that it really makes the new ones competitive in cost.

It may be hard to find one that is customized to your liking, but I saved around $20k buying mine used (and it is pretty much the top of line all you can possibly want/need version)

Plus, I think there is something about knowing your car inside and out from building it.

I really wish I could have built mine for this reason, and if you can afford it you should definitely go this route.
That said, I've already had the car apart enough on several occasions that I am beginning to know it inside and out anyway.

i just saw a website the other day on this, building your own seven. i think its this... Locust Enthusiasts Club - Homepage it seems alot people build sevens without kits.

also, i have been loving my seven, but the other day my turn signals stopped working. none of them work and the green light on the tach doesn't even light up when the turn signal is on. i dont have a manual for the car, so does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Mine won't be as fast as yours, but should be less than 30k all in. I will post up the specs when I finalize. The only problem now is the wait. Next shipment of new ones isn't projected until August unless I want the one that isn't sold coming in next month (wrong color and too many options).

Will be a duratec with stage 2 cams. Later I will add throttle bodies for more power if I think I need it.

Check that the 4 way flasher switch is not on just a little bit. People get in the car and put their hand on the dash...hit the switch a little and disable the turn signals.

Other then that...look at the flasher unit under the dash.

i checked the four way flasher, wasn't that but they still work when you turn that on. what should i look for on the flasher unit?
