Chrysler-Lotus Group Design Deal

Today's WSJ article on Chrysler. It mentions Group Lotus as one of the outside design partners.

"...Chrysler plans to launch 24 new or redesigned vehicles in the next 48 months. Most will come not from its own development labs but from Italy's Fiat SpA, Japan's Nissan Motor Co. and Britain's Group Lotus PLC..."

Chrysler Leans on Foreign Designers - WSJ.com

Maybe they are talking about the previous revealed Dodge EV (an electric car based on Elise).. or new Lotus-designed Chrysler/Dodge models..?

Anyway, it's good to see Lotus making some $$$. I believe in 2008, Group Lotus did make a modest profit (very rare for Lotus), and hopefully with these deals, the company can continue to do better.

Dodge EV, You mean the Lotus Europa with an electric motor, and Dodge emblems?

Yes. Dodge is now calling it the CIRCUIT. Give them credit--they DID squeeze that Dodge Ram truck grill on that tiny Europa :-0.

You'll find that Lotus engineering carried the company for many of the 'lean' years----years when they had only one model, and the company occasionally suffered some reliability/quality issues.
