I'll be on the road shortly (I live only 2 hours away) and I plan to take many pictures but I probably won't be able to post them until Monday. Others will likely respond first but I will post what is worth sharing.

Warning to all Western LOG attendees!!!

Do not miss an opportunity to drive from Silverton to Durango on your way home. It's probably the most beautiful drive in the country. It's known as the Million Dollar Hwy. You'd also be serving yourself well to stop in Telluride if you have time.

Here are the details to get you started...

Consult a map for your favorite path to Montrose and head south from there. Your options are to take the 70 to Grand Junction and then head south or take a mountain route to 50W that would be slower but nicer.

A little background: 50 is a the longest Hwy in America and the first coast to coast hwy. It predates the interstate system. Between I25 and Denver, it's a pretty and entertaining drive in its own right. The 50 is an E/W highway that goes N/S for about 150 miles between Grand Junction and Montrose if I remember correctly. From Montrose, you switch to the 550. The 550 is the Million Dollar Hwy and runs to Durango. You'll see beautiful mountains as you pass over 2 enormous passes (one is over 13k feet iirc). May and June are better times of the year b/c the entire route will be covered with snow melt generated water falls and beautiful spring flowers contrasting with the natural red rocks of the mountains.

Those wanting a side trip to Telluride will see even more spectacular beauty. Unfortunately for the time conscious, there is no [paved] direct route to Telluride. To get there via Elise, you go about 30 to 50 miles out of the way and double back into a box canyon. The roads are great, the views are sublime. And Californians will feel at home in the Colorado hippie's natural habitat.

Once leaving the SW corner of CO, just follow a map to the 40 in AZ and take that back home.

LOG 27 seems to be off to a good start. It is well attended (I"m guessing 400 or so people registered) and the location is beautiful. We're staying at one of the condos just up the road a short way from the headquarters hotel. The sidewalks are so steep and the air so thin (at least compared to Texas) that it's quite a chore to walk uphill just a short distance.

The only obvious issue with the LOG is the lack of parking, both for cars and also for trailers and tow vehicles. We arrived in late morning and got virtually the last spot in the trailer parking lot. And it is 3 or 4 miles from the hotel and event headquarters. I just hope I'm not blocked in tomorrow morning when I go back to retrieve my Elise.

Lotus USA has the 2 Eleven on display (along with Nick Adams to answer questions and discuss the engineering), as well as the Cup car and the '72 formula one car that Fittapaldi will demo at the track day on Monday. If I can figure out how to get my photos downloaded and posted, I'll do so this weekend. The Colorado hosts have done a great job so far. I'm looking forward to testing some of the roads tomorrow and Sunday afternoon.

Sector111 Shirts

Hey Guys,

If you're out there... I'm sure you'll drop by Neil and the Sector111 boys. Last I know, they were going to distribute a new shirt design. Let me know if you guys see it, and what you guys think.

Delorean the way it should have been made...

Lotus powered Delorean - my favorite. I couldn't find the flux capacitor.

Highway 82

The drive on Highway 82 was awesome. There was no shoulder and the drop off was straight down.
