INCORRECT ROUTE SHOWN ON GGLC BLOG
In cross-checking my route against the one shown in Google on the Chapman Report Online blog - that route is incorrect. The first leg will not travel as shown on the blog, so be sure to download and print the maps and directions on my website instead:

Cool, I'm in. Just sent private emails to John and Greg.
If anyone else is driving up from the Peninsula or SF and wants to hook up, lemme know. Bill

Spudboy--I'm leaving from the city if you want to meet up & head north. Maybe we can convince AXXX to go with us and have a caravan of THREE NFB Elises in a row. Or is that too nerdy?

I can suggest an additional meeting point on 101 if a group wants to caravan for the last part of the drive North.
There is a convenient Park 'n Ride parking lot just East of the Lucas Valley Rd. exit from 101 (EZ off/on for the highway). That exit is 30-35 miles South of the meeting spot in Rohnert Park, so leaving there 8:45-9 AM should work OK. Anyone up for that meeting place?

I'll plan to be @ the P&R at 8:45.
Don't forget fleet week is this weekend. Plan your return south with care (or just wade right into it, as is necessary in my case ).San Francisco Fleet Week 2009

Yes, there always seems to be something happening on the w/e in this area. My E. Bay location provides some travel options, though.

Well today was one of the most enjoyable rides I've ever had the pleasure to share with my fellow Lotus drivers. A HUGE thank you to John and his family for putting on such a great feast after our drive. Likewise, big thanks to Greg and Trish for leading the way and keeping us from getting lost (something I can't say after my own little navigational error!). Other than that piece of Hwy 1, I'd never been on ANY of those roads before.
Here's a link to my pictures: Cheers

++1 -- A superior day with a great group driving great cars and enjoying great roads, topped off with some great food and hospitality -- hard to ask for anything more

Likewise! That was an incredible drive, bit bumpy in my car at times...but oh well. You old guys sure run a fast pace.
The food and hospitality was wonderful, thank you so much Greg, John and family.Who else saw the motorcyclist go flying? He was right in front of Greg and all I saw was feet in the air. Glad he was up and seemed ok when we got up to him. I bet the folks at that restaurant or whatever were surprised to see that right in front of them. |

Three cheers for Greg and John. Had a great time. Well organized, great route. And my girlfriend enjoyed it. (That last is the most important criteria for the long term viability of my Lotus ownership).
Thanks a ton for a great day! Edit: Bill, those are some great pictures.

Thanks from John and family, and Trish and myself for the compliments! It was great hosting you folks, seeing your truly excellent examples of Lotuses, catching glimpses of that awesome snake of great cars in my side view mirror - during those brief moments I was able to really look. Trish really enjoyed the view, and meeting you all.
I was actually worried that our old Elan would hold you all back, so I kept the pace a bit higher than usual, but some of those roads were begging for it. I cherry-picked the smoothest roads I could come up with along that route; Sonoma County has some great twisty roads, but the surface of many of them really stinks. Our local Brit car club drives are often on roads with worse surfaces, which really keeps our speed down in the Lotus or our TR6. There was one road today that surprised me - it was like they paved over an unpaved road - no potholes but bumpy as hell. We touched our muffler a few times on that one. ![]() My big disappointment is that our rear-pointing vidcam recorder malfunctioned, so I didn't capture any of those incredible views of your cars behind us. I guess that means we'll have to host another one in the spring. Thanks for coming and making this a success - it was great meeting you and seeing old friends. Cheers, Greg and Trish Tatarian |

Route was good--you've got to work with the tools you have at hand.
I've driven a large portion of that route before, and it helps knowing where the squirrelly bits and bumps are (that off camber compound S onto the bridge is fun, if you are expecting it). Sign me up for the next run come spring & let me know if you need any help.I missed the motorcycle ditching it. What happened? Mr. Know--seem to recall the last run we did together we saw a motorcyclist in a ravine. What's up w/ that?

thanks!
My son Sam and I had a great time - many thanks to everyone! We are looking forward to seeing all of you again on the next get together and swapping more car stories. Also, if you haven't seen chrome orange in person, you're missing out. What a great color.
Best to all! - tim and sam
