Wow, that's an unfortunate signature in the second reply.

What a total disaster. I can't even imagine what it's going to feel like when he cleans the mess up

What's going to be even worse than the mess is the inevitable investigation of the cause and having to document every item in the garage for insurance.

That poor guy... he sure had a lot of toys for a 25 year old, and it's sad to see them go like that.

That is heartbreaking. I know how he feels, we had a house fire just before Christmas '76. There was nothing left including Christmas.

I really doubt that! Insurance will not cover nearly a fraction of the invested value in after market parts and vintage items in that garage and the sentimental value as well.

The guy this happened to is one of my good friends. We were talking about how this has spread all over the Internet... I didn't expect to find it here on E-talk

The insurance company is behaving as I thought they would... lowballing and trying to come up with excuses at every corner.

They offered $9800 for the Z that was lost.

It's going to be a long drawn out battle... he's going to spend weeks finding documentation (or replacement receipts) for everything that was in there. I lost some of my tools and parts to this fire but it's NOTHING compared to what else was lost in there It was so hot that it melted the taillights on an Audi over 40 feet away.

The Europa was pretty cool. It was the JPS colors and was in good shape
