Nice cabinets, but a bit of advice - have a storage room or other out-of-sight area for large, bulky items (bikes, plastic bins, etc) that don't fit well in cabinets.

Tom, nice mud room! I think I'll pick up some sample slate tiles and abuse them to see what they can take.

Yep there is a long closet already in the center of the garage adjacent to the workshop.

I know that the resolution isn't that great...

Recycled rubber floor is out. The binders don't hold up well to gasoline and oil.

Does anybody know the cost per sq. foot for quartz tile?

Not sure, but I confirmed that the garage tile company I was thinking of is http://garage-tile.com/ . However, there's no long any mention of tiles on their website (though you find references to it when googling), just information about a type of grout that's suitable for this application.

Why aren't you going with 10' doors for both sets of garage doors?

Prep was a b!tch though, and my garage is 1600 sq ft... that's a lot of time behind the buffer! Also, keep in mind that you need to let new concrete cure for at least 30 days before staining it for best results. Also, make sure you get ALL of the stain residue buffed out before applying sealer. We made that mistake and it REALLY cost us in time, materials, and elbow grease.

I'll have to see if our stain supplier was Concrete Custom Designs (the original pic)... at the time we did this project, the company she worked with didn't know if our design could be done. Given the similarity in colors and design, I wonder if this is a re-use of our approach since we sent them pics of the finished product?? I could imagine a Lotus logo design that would look awesome!

http://www.greatmats.com/products/quartz-tile.html

These are $2.19 sq ft and their tiles come in 12 x 12 or 24 x 24 sizes. Looks like they have lots of color choices, too! And an adhesive formulated for high moisture conditions. Pretty cool!

The Lista stuff is mostly just tool drawers. I need more than that... plus it's even Pricier!

Ugh!

I did some layouts here of what I designed using the Moduline stuff...

From what I understand, they do all kinds of custom stuff - provided the billfold is thick enough.

Don't forget the plumbing for a parts washer and air.

Probably more advice than you need. But in my latest garage, I built a small sound isolated small storeroom with my air compressor in it and ran four or five hard air lines to various benches and a 50' hose on a reel behind one bench that can reach out through a side door to my car wash area. Blowing the water off bikes and cars in the picky areas is great. Did lots of other stuff, naturally, but isolating the compressor really makes life more pleasant.

How does the RaceDeck stuff handle spills? I mean, not how resiliant are the tiles, but where does spilled liquid go? Through the seams to the floor underneath?

After seeing today's thread of the garage fire, maybe you'd want to consider having a firewall put in to divide your garage....or a sprinkler system.....or both.

I went with an epoxy coating that looked very good at first. It is peeling by the doors and all tires (not just R compounds) seem to adhere to the coating when it is very hot and the item is parked for several days. Thus tread shaped patches are missing in several places. I plan on going with the race deck or other checkered cover at some point.

Which brand epoxy did you use? Do you think anything was wrong in the prep?

thx
