Nice. I'm looking to put one in as well. Did you have to change the tracks on your garage door?

I have the same setup David, really is great for space and maintenance. A friendly word of caution, watch you don't walk into those ramps

The first picture had me wondering whether the ramps were going to be hit by the garage door. The third picture showed me otherwise. It looks like you can just barely lift the Elise over the Porsche with your ceiling height, too. Looks like it worked out amazing given the space you had to work with, and maybe you got just a little lucky

Which model is that? Is Bend-Pak the same as Eagle? I'm interested in getting the following:

http://eagleequip.com/page/EE/PROD/LI-AL/HD-12LS

How does it come shipped? I think I saw the model I was intested on e-bay for mid $4000. I'd like the ability to do an alignment as the local monkeys just don't do a good job. Also...corner balancing =)

Where did you get it from and how much, if you don't mind my asking.

Congrats.

Eagle's site shows a $1300 option to have a rolling jack between the rails.

I have the same set up, my ceiling height is 11.5 feet, it works well. I did have to change my door tracks also. I too have bashed my head walking into the ramps while the lift was up.

Either Model:HD-9 or Model HD-9ST

Info below:

Model: HD-9
Manufacturer: Bend-Pak
Weight: 1450.00

Model: HD-9ST
Manufacturer: Bend-Pak
Weight: 1400.00

These HD-Series lift models were designed and built for car aficionados who appreciate quality and value. Not just quality design but quality workmanship throughout, and not value as in cheap but value as getting a lot more bang for your buck. Sure, we could have made them cheaper, but then they’d be like all those non- certified “hobby” lifts on the market. Please don’t make the mistake of calling these lifts “hobby” lifts. Our engineers would get offended. These “full-blown” lift models come packed with features that until now were found only on commercial-grade designs. Better yet, they’re built and backed by a company with over 35 years in the business. We’re proud to have these lifts in our lineup because they have one thing in common with our great reputation. Both carry a lot of weight.

9,000 pound lifting capacity
Optional caster kit available
Freestanding design
Perfect for PARKING, STORAGE or SERVICE.
Runways include rail kit for optional accessories.
Single hydraulic cylinder mounted underneath runway.
Fully-enclosed lifting cables, safety locks, and sheaves.
Internal "anti-sway" slider blocks in each column
Pneumatic push-button safety release.
Features heavy-duty 3/8" aircraft cable.
Longer approach ramps for low ground clearance vehicles
Safety locks enclosed in columns minimize pinch points.
Oversized sheave diameter reduces cable fatigue.
Rugged, self-lubricating cable sheaves combined with 1-1/4" sheave axles are fully enclosed minimizing pinch points.
Multi-position safety locks in each column
Power unit can be located at the front or rear of the lift.
Designed to meet ANSI standards.
Approach ramps can be removed for added clearance.
Independent "back-up" slack-cable safety latches.
Optional drive-thru ramps available.
Optional drip trays available.
Optional solid deck increases storage capacity.
Optional 4,500 lb. "Low-Boy" air/hyd. rolling jacks available.

To answer some questions:

Yes the height is tight, my total ceiling height is 9' 3", so the first thing i had to do was raise the garage door opener and cut the garage door tracks and make the garage door lift into the garage on a slope, that gave me about 12" more clearance for the rear of the car assuming i drive in forward. I then had to gave a garage door company come in to put stronger springs on the door, since i change the balance of the door. The end result is that driving the lotus in forward with the front not overhanging the lift i have about 6" of clearance to the ceiling and about 4 " of clearance from the rear of the car the the garage door.

The assy. with me and the help of my father took about 16 hours, with the help of the little cherry picker i borrowed from work. You also need 220VAC 25 amp service, and air to run the retract on the safety locks.

Shipping is a little bit of a problem, the length of the runways are to longest parts, this is then packaged into a frame made from the runways with everything else on the inside. It came common carrier, but none of the common carriers will unload to a residence unless you have a way to get it off the truck. Weighs about 1400 lbs. I had to unload at my office with a forklift, then on of the guys had a 16' trailer, we unpacked and then brought to the house.

This is an option for a jack station, about 300 - 400.00. I also got the caster kit, which allows the unit to be moved in the event you need to.

The only thing i need to do is put in a mechanical failsafe, so i cannot fall asleep at the switch and make the elise 2 dimentional.
